My little bun has decided she likes to pee on her hay in her litter box, so I figured I'd get her a hay dispenser/rack/whatever you call it to avoid wasting hay. What is the best one to get? I've done an abundance of research, but am still super indecisive. I've heard from a few sources that plastic is bad, since they like to chew and eat it, and to get a wooden or metal one. I've also heard that the holes can't be too big so the bun's head doesnt get stuck and break their back. Anyway, any information would be appreciated, thanks.[emoji173]

It's normal for them to pee on hay in their litter box. That's why it's good to add fresh hay a couple times per day. This is how I feed hay to my rabbits.

One should expect plenty of wasted hay with a rabbit. They will reject hay that is peed on. But they will also reject certain fresh strands of hay just because.

If hay is bought by the bale (or half bale) it is soooo cheap that wasted hay isn't even a thought.

Having a hay rack is still fine. There isn't such a thing as openings being too large. The larger the better. The usual problem with most hay racks is openings that are too small. The hay needs to be extremely accessible and easy to get to or bunny will eat less because it is just too much work to get enough hay.

If you have a specific something in mind, post a photo and we'll see what everyone thinks.

Thank you so much for the advice, I really appreciate it! Yes, I will look into it, and post photos of the potential hay racks I'll get, thatd a great idea! Do you have any sites/places you know that sell cheap, good quality hay? Thanks for the response!:)

I am also looking for a nice hay rack option! I tried a couple of them, but the main issue was that they weren’t fixed to the litter box- the litter box would be shoved away and the hay would end up being spilled all over the place. For now I simply use a huuuge (so both buns can use it at the same time) and super tall (with a low entrance at a side) cat litter tray, to avoid as much hay spillage as possible. I place some newspaper on the bottom to soak up the wee and put hay over it. Of course, that means some hay wastage, but didn’t come up with any smarter idea for now...
