I went to Aldi with Will and did some shopping the other day. While perusing their "other" area (non-food items) this just stuck out. It's a humidifier for your room... and it looks like a PENGUIN! I put it in the cart. I didn't even ask Will. lol

It looks really funny when it's running. The water vapor shoots out of the penguin's forehead! :p

He's CUTE! and having a humidifier is EXCELLENT for allergies and stuff in the winter.. the air gets so dry this time of year!

Will has been trying to make "smoke rings"... Err... "Vapor rings" with it. He gets a mouthful of the vapor, and puffs it out at me. It actually looks like smoke! I wonder what the people across the "yard" think of us. They probably think we are a drug den or something. It looks "funny". :?

EDIT: Tell me about the dry weather! You should see the back of my hands! Being that I have to wash my hands (on average) every five minutes or so (sometimes more). They are red, cracked, and bleeding in some areas. :(

This was the BEST $20 I ever spent...

But I'm open to spending another $20 and have it be the second-best I ever spent...

Where do I go to spend it on this??

I definitely need that, too stinkin' dry in this house! Plus I think the cats would be fascinated with it.

I found my penguin at Aldi. They also had a little yellow duck one. I've also seen them at Walgreen's before, too. I think I saw a froggie one and a koala at Walgreen's last year. Ever since then, I've been looking for them! I finally found one at Aldi when I wasn't even looking for one! My only complaint is that the vapor has an odd smell to it. You don't notice it unless you stick your face into the vapor and take a deep whiff. I think it is just from the plastic.

I'll have to check Walgreen's since we don't have an Aldi. Actually never heard of that store before.

I double posted! Eep!

A lot of Aldi stores don't carry the same "special" items. Some do, some don't. Also, once they run out, that's probably it. Aldi is just a cheap(er) grocery store. We get boxes of cereal for $1.79 that are better than the name brands. It's great for dry/canned/frozen goods. They don't really have shelves, and they don't advertise a lot, so it saves them money, thus reducing prices. Something like that!

Hooray for Penguin Humidifiers!!!

I have this one, I got it at Target last winter. I usually turn it on overnight, and I've had it cranked up all weekend.

I think they had a frog and Hello Kitty, and maybe an elephant? More expensive than Aldi, though, I think Kelly got the better deal!

Hehe it's really cute! I never knew ye had Aldis over there, we have them here too. I wonder if they sell the same food.

Haha... I remember when I went to Ireland being surprised you guys have them over there!

Different foods mostly, btw. Though the basics are always the same :D

Didn't Aldi start out in Germany? That's what I thought... My roommate's parents lived in good old Deutschland for awhile when they were first married. Then they moved to South Africa and didn't see them there. Once they moved to the US, they were excited to see them here. :)

What like potatoes, for 49p?
Like tomatoes, for 49p?
Carrots, for just 49p? :p I hate that advert !
I didnt think you had aldi's over there either!

Ya Aldi is a European store from Germany so that's why I was surprised you have them in the USA, especially since you have walmart and other shops. They were thinking about bringing walmart here but haven't so far. I want to move to the USA for awhile in three or four years so it will be great to have that there.

We used to shop at our local Aldi for basic veg like that when they had those special offers on. Until we went in and they had little gem lettuce (my favourite!) that was literally brown, soggy and growing mould! The manager was stood there putting these lettuces on the shelf! I said they were horrible and looked like they'd been in someone's fridge for about a month (maybe more lol) and he just glared at me like I was crazy! Yeah, we didn't go back there again lol!

It's funny, we have bought a dehumidifier for our house lol.... We use the tumble dryer a lot in winter and it makes the air really damp...

Our aldi is farely decent and since the recession started everyone does their shopping in there, even the posh, rich people who were stuck up and said they would never shop there are sneaking in to do their shopping. We used to do our shopping in Lidl until Aldi came, I think Aldi's food is better quality and nicer. The only other supermarkets we have are Tesco and Dunnes Stores and they are a rob.
