I haven't been to Aldi in years, even though there are 3 or 4 in my area. My home town has had one for a long time, my grandma shops there a lot.

Do they still only take cash? I think that's the main reason I don't go. Too much of a hassle to go to the bank to get cash and then keep track of the total as I shop.
How's their meat department? I don't eat a ton, so I'm super picky about it.
If I'm honest, my weekly grocery list is at least half, if not more, produce. Mostly for the bunnies, but I eat a lot, too.

Might stop by there sometime, though, and scope it out. I'm always interested in saving a bit of $$$ when I can. I try not to shop at Walmart, though, if I can avoid it. They treat their employees and suppliers too poorly. Also, the one around me has terrible produce.

Ya Aldi is a European store from Germany so that's why I was surprised you have them in the USA, especially since you have walmart and other shops. They were thinking about bringing walmart here but haven't so far. I want to move to the USA for awhile in three or four years so it will be great to have that there.
REALLY? I didn't know that. We've had an Aldi near us since I Can remember. They have upgraded the building and more are around now tho. They used to never be open on Sundays cause of "religious reasons" but now they are.

Well, unless the Aldi in the USA is a different one from this:

Then it comes from Germany, Europe

Nope, they will take cash, debit card (not credit), and food stamps.

The ones I've been to look pretty good. The prices are similar to the grocery store sales (at least they were when I checked last Fall).

They have a pretty good produce department. It's small, but they have the basics. They also sell the bagged lettuces and such. Sometimes, I get the bagged romaine hearts there. Their produce has always been good when I've been there. I just don't buy my produce there a lot because the other grocery store is closer and has a bigger selection.

Cool, I might check them out, if they take debit now. I go to one store for most of my groceries, but lately their produce has been a bit lacking in freshness. Jason likes their deli department, and they carry the local milk I like (though I could get it cheaper at Whole Foods); they're more expensive than Walmart, but I try not to go there if I can help it. I've been having to go to a seperate store, just to get vegetables, but their other stuff is more expensive than the first store. I think I might try Aldi for basics, there's one on my way home from work.
