Ok, so I was brushing out Sky's hair and she has lost a lot of hair. I wasn't too worried, until I found that she has a couple of bald spots. One is behind her ears, and the other is on her flank where her hair was matted a bit so I had to brush it out a lot.The bald spot is about the size of a ritz cracker. The skin looks normal and healthy where it is bald, except for the fact that it doesn't have hair. I am wondering if this is normal for a molt, and if I should continue to brush her out, or if I need to take her to the vet right away.
Oh yeah, for anyone who doesn't know, I have a fuzzy lop who is rather young and weighs less than a pound. Here is a pic of her.

Could be fur mites or some rabbits when they shed heavy get bald spots.

I would just keep an eye on her for now. I dont think its anything urgent that needs a trip to the vet (although, if she is new a check up might be good in the near future to be sure she shealthy).

Its also good to quarantine a rabbit for at least a few weeks before introducing them to another to be sure they arent sick or anything.

Just keep an eye out to see if shes itching that area or if it spreads(could be mites, as was mentioned). Its probably fine to brush her, just use something with soft bristles and dont brush too hard.

Shes gorgeous though! Congrats! Will you be bonding her with Ronnie?

Right now she is in quarantine until after the new year. Poor ronnie smells her on me and really wants to meet her.

I am going to get her a check up after xmas to make sure she is ok, and ask when I can get her altered.
I am probably not going to bond her with Ronnie unless my brother decided to help pay to get him fixed because Ronnie is his rabbit and I doubt I have enough money to get both of them altered and still pay for their food and other stuff.
(that and I am TRYING to teach my brother a little responsibility for his animal. Don't think it is working.)

If it is a normal molt spot, you should be seeing the area darken as new hair comes in. Flaking or redness can indicate mites or other types of skin infection.

It is darkening up where the skin has fallen out so I think she is just molting. But some of her hair is matted and that worries me a little because I know fleas and other things hide under matts. So I am trying to keep more matts from appearing., and get these out, but I really don't want any more bald spots. Think I should comb out the matts anyway?

You can brush or cut the mats out. Be careful not to pull too hard (painful and may cause bleeding).
