Hi Guys,

It's in the middle of his back.

I've read many of the posts regarding mites or just flaky skin, so I've decided to put listerine on the bald spot to get rid of what might be mites.

Someone here suggested checking for mites, how do i do that? Can I see them with the naked eye?

Sorry if this is a redundant posting.

Cheers,

Will

Hey - no you won't be able to see them with the naked eye.

The listerine also doesn't always work - I would take him to the vet. They do a skin scraping and look at it under the microscope to check out if there are mites or not.

The shoulder area is a common place where mites may first be noticed. Mites can be difficult to detect even under a microscope. They are sometimes found clinging to a hairshaft and may not be in the skin sample scraping unless the rabbit is heavily infested.

Ivermectin is one of the most common treatments used for fur mites. Kitten flea powder containing carbaryl can also be used.
