Bald spot - did I do this?

Is this normal? I was brushing Daisy this evening... could I have done this? This is the comb I use. It was recommended on here. I brushed her about 2 weeks ago - she isn't a huge fan of being brushed... she definitely didn't have the bald spot then. Any advice would be appreciated! Daisy will be 3 on June 28th, spayed Holland Lop. She seems to shed a lot. The spot is on her lower back area above her back foot. She didn't cry or fuss when I was brushing her. She gets plenty of hay, Oxbow Pellets, fresh water & healthy veggies

It was probably from the brush since there is no flaky skin around the area. As long as the area stays dry and she doesn't pick at the skin the fur will grow back. The hairbuster is a rougher brush so you have to be super gentle when brushing rabbits.

Thanks. I will keep a eye on it. And be super gentle next time I brush her. On a good note, she was her normal self this morning and didn't appear stressed.

Same thing happens to me with that brush, I also heard on here that sometimes when rabbits are shedding hard they get bald spots

I've brushed her several times with that brush & never had that happen before. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Yes, I also brushed a ton of bunnies yesterday at the rescue, and they were shedding all over the place (I was wearing black and I turned into a cloud of fluff!) So they said to brush them, and some of them got bald spots, I was being very gentle, maybe just hard shedders?

I can relate! For such a small bunny she sure has a ton of fur!

Storm is also in heavy shed, all varieties of combs have been rendered almost useless; can't tell anything about the comb doing it; so i have to make do with gentle hand-plucking. Storm has quite a number of baldspots on his back and sides, and they look very funky. Most of them-especially the bigger ones- already have new fur.
Hers should grow back anew soon enough.

Ok what do y'all use to brush them cuz mine is shedding when I hold him and pet him and idk how old he is but got him in March but also the people we got him from didn't know how old they was

I use these guys on both my double mane lionhead and my lop.
I also use lint roller tape on my lop, for REAL . At first I thought the hair would get stuck but nope.
I wouldn't try it on my lionhead though, because he's already too timid and weary (even after 4 years with me, but he's come a long way) oh humans thanks to his first owners .
Oh also, wetting a cloth and using that to "pet" bunny with, will help loosen the fur for even more complete brush out.

I just finger pluck my rabbits, but this is likely not effective for rabbits who have trouble staying still during interactions. If you do use yours hands, it's important to remember you shouldnt actually be pulling out fur, but just teasing out fur that has already released.

Celery is safe in moderation. It falls into the same category with bell peppers, carrot tops and other non-leafy things.

ive never used a proper brush on my bun, i just use one of my old hairbrushes, is that a problem?

@spoonrabbit62 I don't see it being a problem, as long as it isn't uncoated metal ends. You wouldn't want it to catch on buns sensitive skin.
There's also a "petting shed glove" you can get from a Walmart store or order from Amazon if you shop online. It works good too.
