Did some reading on those pre-packed, pre-cleaned and tube shaped baby carrots that one usually sees being served with dip. These carrots are initially the odd shaped carrots and the skins are removed, they are cut and shaped into these little torpedo shapes and then soaked in water and CHLORINE! When they are in the refrigerator they develop a fine white tint on them. That is the chlorine coming out. Don't think I want my bunnies eating those.

eww, scary!! definitely wouldn't want bunns eating those - chlorine is bad for them... mine even get filtered water because of the chlorine in tap water (I got one of those water filtering pitchers just for them... and now the hammies and gliders as well).

Hmm...you know I never thought of that, I give Conan and my birds the same thing I drink, filtered water so I'm glad I just took care of that before it became an issue.

The white being chlorine is actually a myth. It's just the carrot drying out (if you take a freshly dug up carrot and cut it, the same thing will happen, it just happens faster on baby carrots because they have no skin).

But it is true carrots (and most prepared veggies) are dipped in a chlorine bath.

However, it's not something I would worry much about (for you or your bunnies), because chlorine dissipates so quickly after being exposed to air. (Chloramine, which is in some tap water, does not)
