Sunday afternoon a small fire started in Auburn. Due to the hot temperatures, dry land, and gusty winds it spread fast. It quickly became an emergency. Stores in the area (K-mart, Safeway, etc) were evacuated along with residences. When I last checked, 275-acres had burned with 60 structures destroyed; 50 homes and 10 commercial buildings. It looks like a war zone. The governor of California has visited the wiped out neighborhood.
Firefighting crews have been increased to 621 personnel, 90 engines, 13 handcrews, 18 dozers and 15 water tenders. This morning it's at 50 percent containment, full containment isn't expected until Tuesday. The winds have been blowing the fire away from us, but towards the rabbit rescue I volunteer with. Their power and phone connection was out yesterday until about 8 PM. Thankfully they didn't need to be evacuated, but they were prepared, as were we.

Here are some pictures I got with my cell phone, so the quality is lacking.
We parked by the small lake and watched the helicopters collecting and dumping water.
