Are you obsessed with animals?

I have an array of different animals, and I just love them all so much, and ever other animal I see lol! I hope there is never a time in my life where I can't have a pet(s), I think I would go crazy. All I really want to talk about with people is animals, like if I can get a conversation going with someone about any type of animal, I'd talk about it for hours. Animals are pretty much all I talk about with my parents lol! I worry it gets on their nerves, they love animals too but not as much. When I was making a salad for the g pigs earlier I heard them talking about the new guinea pig I am getting tomorrow, I think they might have said something about me talking about animals too much, I couldn't really hear. I'm going to try cut down on the animal talk though it's hard They are on my mind at least 50-60 % of the time. If me and my boyfriend last and get married, he better know we will have lot's of pets.

Am I just overly obsessed, or are there others on here? I think people are weird when they don't like animals or find animal talk boring

I am really into animals and my husband hates it... I have 3 Bun's, A female Pug and a Female Doberman, And getting more Bun's too... But he hates it because i am a big huge animal love and he isnt

I'm crazy about animals! I had always wanted to have a career taking care of animals, but I couldn't ever decide what I wanted to do. Well...I decided and I am starting pet grooming school at the end of February :biggrin2:!

I currently have 3 kitties, 1 foster kitty, 1 dog, 4 rabbits, 4 ratties, and like to foster rabbits when I can. I'm at my limit, but I think when my rats all pass away (probably by the end of the year) I want to get another dog...or start fostering dogs from a rescue. I really want a Cocker Spaniel puppy, but we will see what the future holds. In the end of my 3 year foster period of my MIL's cat, we may just end up keeping him...but my one cat hates him, so I don't know.

I don't have many friends because I have nothing else to talk about except animals really. Most girls my age aren't married...and I am. So, all they have to talk about is boy friends, parties, etc.

I'd say that I love animals, but I also think I love them in a really healthy way.

I'm not saying that you dont love them in a healthy way; just that I understand. I dont even know how to explain how much I love them because I dont understand how people can not.

But at the same time I have a ton of other interests. I tend to keep my animal talk down to a minimum simply because its not engaging for the other person. Most conversations need two to work. I love my animals obsessively in private, but let my other interests out around other people. It gives my life some balance.

I'm definitely an animal lover, but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed.
I mean, animals are a huge part of my life. There are, of course, my pets, but I'm also an animal science major so I hope to one day rely on animals for my livelihood.

To me, saying someone is obsessed with animals would be someone who may put animals before people, like people who are in PETA or ALF, etc.

Ya I guess obsessed might be the wrong word lol. I do tons of other stuff besides them, I have quite a large group of friends and a boyfriend that I do stuff with all the time, and of course I go to school and stuff but animals are my main ''hobby''

I was actually gonna start a thread like this one, Yes I am very addicted to animals I'm a bit of an animal hoarder to be honest, But never does any animal I get, Get miss treated, I always tend to have about €250 or more just sitting around from birthday's and Christmas which I'm always very slow to spend and when I do it normally goes on animals, Like if I see an animal I like I buy it without asking permission I just don't think but lately I haven't been doing that, Well minus the chinchillas I just bought them lol, But yeah I have impulse bought a rabbit since spring last year and my last rabbit was gotten during the summer with permission, I kinda want to get a female choco lop so I am gonna get permission this time though, So alot of begging lol!

My friends aren't so if I see an animal (i.e a dog walking down the road) I would be like "awwww" and want to rub it! My friends are like "Will you shut up?!". My parents are sick of me talking about them. When Im older I am hoping to get a variety of animals!!

If I get money, it usually(90% of the time) goes on my rabbits/my dog! I wish I had lots of pets.. unfortunately atm I cant !

That's why it's so nice to have the internet to chat with others who understand the whole pet/animal thing

I'd probably classify as "obsessed." I have many companion animals, am a wildlife rehabilitator, and do private exotics rescue. I work as a pet sitter and pet nutrition counselor, and also tutor life sciences. My boyfriend is a herper and together we do an educational program for children to teach them about conservation and captive care issues for exotics. I'm majoring in biology. Most any book I read, website I visit, etc. has to do with critters. I photograph, track, and watch wildlife when I spent time outdoors. Heck, the research I'm participating in this summer (hopefully!) involves documenting macroinvertebrate biodiversity in tributaries.

So yeah... probably a bit obsessed.

I love animals and they are a HUGE part of my life but I dont' think I'm obsessed. I have lots of pets, my hobby is keeping aquariums, I'm part of animals clubs(fish and reptile), I volunteer with animals and I'm a pet sitter. So animals take up a large part of my life,lol. I can also talk about animals for hours on end if people will let me. But I know it has a time and a place. When I'm with my friends, I dont' usually talk about animals unless people ask me, being it up first or ask me what I do. You can usually tell if someone wants to hear you talk about it or not.

My friends know how nerdy I am about animals and are used to it. They don't care if I talk about it and will ask me about my pets and stuff.

But animals also aren't my whole life and I am capable of talking about other stuff too, lol.

I don't have many friends but I know when I overdo animal talk I drive my boyfriend insane.
Hehe and he is also very aware that I don't take no for an answer when it comes to animals.
I can control myself on the amount I have based on if I have the time and money to care for them. BUT, I believe that if you do have the time and money then why not get another one?
Him and I already plan on getting two cats when we get a place together.

I usually tell people who ask about my interests that rabbits are one of my obsessions. I love animals of all kinds - pets and wildlife. I like reading interesting things about animals, and I often share the things I learn with my family. But I don't constantly talk about them or even constantly think about them, so I wouldn't consider myself obsessed with animals in general
