One of my rabbits had a bit of light diarrhoea the other day so I looked up on it and it said to just give him water and hay for a few days.

He had it yesterday evening and it seems to have already cleared up but I'd rather keep him like this for another day just to be on the safe side. Thing is, he's inside right now and he's sulking, probably about not having the proper food stuff. Are there any treats or anything that I could safely give to him?

I'm sorry, I know it isn't really illness advice but I don't want to give him anything that will upset his stomach and start it off again.
Plus, does anybody have some extra advice for helping with a rabbit with diarrhoea?

Thanks :)

sorry - he's a male 9 month old dwarf lop :)

I would avoid any treats with sugars or carbs. You could try something green and leafy like cilantro or green leaf lettuce, but if he's not used to it you would only want to give a very small piece. There is a chance it could cause soft poops though. You could always give just a few pieces of pellets as a treat.

If this works to clear up the diarrhea, you may want to consider permenantly feeding unlimited hay and reducing the amount of pellets he gets so he will eat more hay. That way you could avoid this happening again. Just so you know, sometimes parasites or bacteria can be the cause of poop problems. After his poops get better, if he isn't acting like he is feeling better or if he seems unwell at all, I would get him to the vet and get it checked out right away.

If this is real diarrhea and not just soft poops, and it is still happening, you need to get to the vet immediately.

Was there any change to his diet or environment or any stressor that you can think of (new pet, moving, etc.) before the diarrhea started?
What is the consistency of the diarrhea? Diarrhea is a serious concern in rabbits (and really any animal that small) as they can quickly become dehydrated. Definitely encourage him to drink more water (and offer a bowl as well if he's used to a bottle).
I'd say a vet appointment is in his best interest.
