Hello! Any help here would be appreciated, it's been hard to find info on my subject at hand, I've got a bonded pair of females who've been together since 8 weeks old, they are both ~ 4 1/2 yrs now and spayed, ones a harlequin Dutch and the other is a mini lop. Our mini lop got a facial abcess about 7 weeks ago and underwent surgery w tooth/abcess removal. Needless to say it came back with a vengeance and as of last week had a 2nd surgery where they left her wound site in the jaw area just stitched shut and open so we can flush it daily w solution. It wasn't until this last surgery that the vet suggest we separate the 2 of them unless they had supervised play time because our our bun Harley was obsessively picking at her wound site.
My question is has anyone else dealt with this before, I let them out to supervise them when I can but it seems like my lop is getting depressed because she doesn't get to hang in her pen like normal and with her bunny sister as she normally did? I'm doing the best I can but I can't leave them unattended because our other bunny always resorts to trying to groom and bite the wound area through no fault of her own.....any suggestions?
