The most important thing about picking a rabbit up is to do it with confidence, if you apologize to the rabbit mentally it will struggle and fight. Watch some videos on how to do it right, practise with a stuffed toy, and be aware that it doesn't matter if the rabbit likes it or not, sometimes it's necessary and then it's better they are used to it, no matter if they like it. Start small, first just putting the hand under him, while petting, then a short lift, then picking up and putting to your chest, but let hop away then, and so on. Always give a treat afterwards.
To get some decent pictures of it's private parts to post here get help, quite likely you'll have not enough hands to get it done swiftly.
Only when they hit puberty there are subtle differences in behaviour, like the way they dig (males do short digging bursts here and there, kind of marking territory or leaving a mark, females dig tunnels or a whole warren a few times a year, then do very little digging for months. That's a tendency, not a 100% rule), but I only started to see that after years of breeding rabbits.
