So, sorry to keep asking about litter training, but I have a rabbit (besides Taz) who is around 2-2 1/2 months old. I have her in he cage, which is one of those cages that has that blue floor with the top that clips on, like this: http://www.petptt.com/uploads/allimg/11/1-1106231403110-L.jpg and I have for bedding on the bottom hay, and then a litter box with Fresh news bedding in it. Should i put Fresh News bedding on the floor of the WHOLE cage and the litterbox? She, like Taz, is just eliminating in the middle of her cage/wherever she wants. She's young and very small, i don't know if that makes a difference. I feel like I don't know what I'm doing :?

I would not use bedding in the whole cage as it confuses bunny on where the correct place to go is.
I would put the litterbox in the middle, or wherever she is choosing to go, for right now. Clean any messes immediately. Keep the litterbox "dirty" for awhile so she smells her messes there.

By the way, where did you get an 8-10 week old baby? Is this a new bun?

I would not put any bedding in the base of the cage. You put a litter box in the cage with poop and pee in it. If you want a covering for the floor you can use fleece or newspaper.

Newspaper is made with cellulose and soy ink--mine have been ingesting it for more than ten years and they love to play with and in it. I'd put a pan in there with bedding and leave the rest with carpet or wood and see if that helps.

Okay, thanks! My only hesitation w/ carpet or wood was she isn't litter trained, so she'll pee all over wood or carpet, and then I can't get it into the litterbox. What should I do if i want to be able to scoop soiled bedding into the litterbox? WHat should I use?

What I've found that usually works best is to put the litter in the litter box and don't put anything else on the bottom of the cage floor. If you put carpet or newspaper down, she may just keep peeing out of the litter box, but with the smooth floor of the cage, rabbits are less likely to want to pee on it because then it gets on their feet and they hate that. So give that a try and see if it works. It may take her a few days to get the idea that it's not good to pee on the cage floor. You don't want her getting pee soaked feet so wipe up any messes when you are around and see one. Let us know if she still won't use the litter box.

Thanks! And if she pees on the hard floor, I wipe it up and put it in the litter box correct?
