Is therre any alternative way to calm agression in young male rabbits besides getting them fixed?

What are some good homeade toys that tcan help subside my rabbitsboredom during night hours while I am asleep and during day hours whileI am not home?

My rabbit grunts alot at me, could this mean he is angry at me orpossibly scared of me. I cannot really tell if he is grunting orgrowling!!

Thanx, Megan:bunnydance:

If its at all possible, I would have him fixed. It would greatly reduce aggression (and that awful smell you wereasking about!).

If this isnt an option right now, just give him more things to filterhis energy into. A phone book works great for something to rip up andplay with. Paper towel rolls work great as well.

Good Luck!

I had the same grunting problem with my bunny, and it was after I had him neutered. Neutering is really thebest way to control raging hormones in young bunnies, but it won'tcompletely *fix* behavioral problems.

What I would do with your bun, and this is what I did, is let your buncome to you on his terms until he trusts you more. What I did was a layed down on my floor and read a book or did myhomework, and let Rocky approach me. I would let him nudgeme, sniff me, and other rabbity things, and after a while I started toreach my hand out to pet him. It will take some time, butRockyreally warmed up to me by doing thistechnique.

Good Luck!

By the way, I'm new...HI! :)

Are you sure you can't get him fixed? If there's a cost issue sometimes shelters have low cost spay/neuterprograms that include rabbits. My Humane Society has one andjust added rabbits to it in the last year. It's only $30.

As for toys, there are lots of things he can play with. Myaggressive (spayed but previously abused) girl Sprite likes to take heraggression out on noisy toys she can throw. Two that are easyto find are small plastic cat toys with bells in them and hard plasticbaby keys.

Other good toy ideas are old phone books, cardboard boxes (especiallywith hay or newspaper inside), grass mats, wicker baskets, and hangingchew toys with bells on them. Different bunnies likedifferent things.

There's more ideas in the Bunny 101 toy thread:

And this is a great rabbit toy lists from it:
