I had my male bun neutered October 10th. I raised him literally since birth, but he was never a cuddly rabbit. He was also sort of agressive. He loved my cat and tried to mate with him all the time, which my cat did not like. So, I decided it was time for him to be neutered. Because it is supposed to make them stop trying to mate and be less aggressive. Well, it didn't help at all. He is way more aggressive now and way more aggressive in trying to mate with the cat. The vet said this is extremely unusual and he didn't know how to help me. Its been several weeks since the surgery, and his behavior has not died down. His behavior is so much worse after the surgery. I was hoping that someone can help me with any advice or something! And it's not like he's an angry rabbit cuz he's neglected or abused. I take very good care of my animals. He doesn't even live in a cage. He has free run in my master bedroom all day, and then when I'm home for the evening, he gets free run of the whole upstairs of the house. He gets fruit and veggies daily, so he is very spoiled. I really don't understand his behavior.

It can take up to 8 weeks for all the hormones to leave a bucks system. Have patience and he should improve over time.

Well, I figured it would take a while. But I called the vet who did the surgery and he told me the hormones should have been gone right away! He said it was strange for my rabbit to be acting this way. I would hate to think that he doesn't know what he's talking about!! But, in a sense it would be good... only because there is still hope for my bun!

Hi,

It does take some time to purge the hormones from his system....and the older he is, the longer it takes. I am kinda concerned about the info you received from the vet.

It sucks. I really can not find a vet I feel as if I can trust. A few months ago, two vets saw my guinea pig and because of their ignorance, she died. It was a simple thing that was wrong with her too. I don't know. But thank you guys for helping me out. It's really good to know his behavior will get better in a few weeks!

If you give us your exact location we may be able to help you find a vet. :)

I live in Wilmington, MA. The vet I saw was at the Andover Animal Hospital. If anyone knows a better vet, please let me know! I have two bunnies! Thank you!
