Please help!
My bunny hates hay and pellets! She loves veggies but it’s making her poop go softy so she’s constantly having her poop stuck on her bottoms. Ive tried all types of hay, and would always had to waste them out because she won’t bother to eat them, she would push them away. Please, any tips or tricks to her eating hay?

she gets 3 meals a day, about a handful of “baby spinach mix” and I would try to mix the pellets within her veggies ( 1/3 cup ) but she picks them out. I’ve given her pellets from Oxbow and kaytee. She’s also tried alfalfa when she was younger, Timothy, western, and orchard. She just turned 1 year old a couple days ago, I’ve had her for About almost 5 months now.

So she gets a handful of baby spinach mix 3x each day? Is that all she eats?

Rabbits typically resist any change in pellet types or brands. It needs to be transitioned or they will just not eat the new kind. What type was she eating when you first got her? It is customary to send a new rabbit owner home with some of the pellets the rabbit had been used to eating. What brand and type was she eating when you got her?

Do you still put hay in for her? What kind? What hay do you currently have?

I got her from an older lady which had got the rabbit from a fair for her 9 year old granddaughter 😓 I paid $15 for the rabbit, she came with nothing but a wired cage with one bowl and she said that she wasn’t sure what kind of food they gave her they basically got whatever food they can get for a “rabbit” because her it was her granddaughter’s bunny. And yes I still try to put hay for her, it’s the Oxford Timothy and western mix. she is also my first rabbit.

Maybe try making a pellet mash (I don’t have the exact recipe for it but you can look it up) on top of the spinach or any fruit or treats she likes so that when she eats the stuff she likes, she’s also getting pellets or if needed syringe feed her it. As for the hay, try using it as her bedding in her litter box and/or cage so she nibbles on it throughout the day. Also put the hay in different locations (a hay net, a bowl, the ground, etc) to encourage her to eat it as this is a very important part of their diet. Hope this helps!

I will definitely give pellet mash a try thank you so much!

You could make some toys made out of hay
But I suggest you stick around so others could give their ideas :)

You could get botanical (I don't know if you've tried that) (has herbs)

I have found that with any type of animal (and small kids), they will eventually get hungry and eat what you put in front of them. I would leave hay out 24/7 and give her 1/4 cup of pellets per day. Reduce her veggies to 1/2 cup a day until she is eating her hay and pellets. Then you can bump it up back up to 1 cup a day.

To make her hay and pellets for interesting stuff the hay in toilet paper tubes and mix the pellets in with the hay.
