I am getting addicted to these buns !!

I'm working on getting a couple more buns ... An English Angora, (well, possibly two) and a flemish giant baby. (they're all babies actually)

Anyhow, they're all show quality/registered/pedigreed babies. And I'm really interested in showing them, and when the time comes - breeding on occassion. Like only once (twice at most) per year. And I've been looking up info about shows, etc. so I can start showing them when they're ready.

There's one English Angora that I have on hold that I'm getting for sure ... she's a REW, and will be ready to leave her nest/mamma in November. I'm also HOPING to get a broken chocolate E.A. at the same time, but I'm not sure if that will work out yet or not. I know the brokens are a "blemish" for showing/etc. but I have to have a broken ... even if I don't breed the broken, I just love the broken chocolate/black !

Then there's a blue flemish giant buck that I might have a chance at buying as well.

My favorite breeds are Flemish giant, English Angora, and English Lop. I can't find any English Lop near my area though ... so that's a hope, but not sure if it's a possibility.

I don't want a large herd. Just a pair of each breed. 2 F.G.'s, 2 E.A.'s, and 2 E.L.'s Plus I have "Patch" ... my lop.

I'm so excited about all this ! Excited about showing to :) And excited about breeding when the time comes. I would only breed if I know the babies will have good homes though. And I only plan to breed show quality, healthy rabbits. And as I said, only on occassion ... not real frequently.

I would be grateful for any advice for showing/breeding ... what to expect, etc. I have time to learn ... all my registered bunnies I plan to get will be babies, so I do have time.

I also would be interested to find any Breeders near me. I'm in Southern PA .. in the "Tri state area" ... near Ohio, MD, WV.

Hello,

I am new to this as well and am anxious to hear about what others have to say about the showing part. I raise English Lops and Im in upstate NY.My doe justhad a litter of 2 beautiful babies! They are 10 days old tomorrow. Good luck in your journey.:biggrin2:

OMG ! Do you ever travel to Southern PA ???? I have been LOOKING for breeders of English Lops ... I really want a pair of them !

I found a breeder of the Flemish giants, and the English Angoras (the two other breeds I plan to get), but am not having as much luck finding a breeder in my area of English Lops.

I havent been to PA in about 10 yrs, lol. Do you ever come to NY? I dont get to travel much because I have so many animals and 2 little boys...and a husband of course. :p

I have nothing to add to this thread except that Patch (in your avatar) is so cute! what a little smooshy-face moo-cow bunny!

arg ... no. I have NEVER been to NY actually. However, my aunt and uncle come to NY - their son is in a colleg in NY, he plays football there. I'm not sure EXACTLY where in NY though.

Are you planning on selling the two new babies ? Are they spoken for yet ??

If they will be for sale, and are not spoken for ... how much are you going to ask for them ? I would only want one of them. Can you tell me more about them ??

Well, like I said they are only 10 days right now. They have a long way to go before they are ready.

Can't find a ELop breeder in Pennsylvania? Too bad you weren't at the Lebanon, PA show on Saturday. There were 60+ English Loppies. :biggrin2:

Good luck with your angoras and flemish! Flemies are so awesome. *secretly wants a pet one* :p I know the feeling of bunny addiction; I only have 4 [soon to be 3, wah] show Elops, plus 2 house buns [and my brother's holland], and I so wish I had room for more.

There's a couple shows in Maryland in November that I'm fairly sure Elop breeders will be at [I'm planning on going to at least one of them]. You should visit a few shows just to get the feel of things and talk to people in your future breed/s; that's what I did, and it really helped when I finally showed for the first time. :) Showing is so much fun, you're gonna love it.

Darn ! I missed out !! ARG !

Well, I'll lookup the details about the Maryland shows - they'd have them on ARBA right ?

Well, she's not any less fearful really. I mean, she's not petrified of us, just doesn't LIKE being touched/held. It's upsetting to be honest. I still visit with her quite often, and give her treats, and talk to her, and TRY to pet her, but she always hops AWAY from my hand when I reach in to pet her, and she still stomps often. Not every time I'm there, but often. sigh.

I love your website! Very cute pictures of Patch.

(I did notice that on your sub-pages that you misspelled your name - thought you may want to fix that)

Yay!! A new rabbit habit...-er lol. Anyway, I have this page of rabbit breeders in PA. I saw that there are many English lop breeders as well, so I hope that helps =) There are also many Flemish Giant and English Angora too, so you could check that out. Here's the link:

I hope that helps your search. Rabbits are amazingly fun!! I love all my Dutch, they're so neat. Anyway, I hope you find all the info you need here!

Hi there,

I am new at all of this too & totally love it. We have had a few bunnies over the past 8 years.. but my daughter wanted to really jump in & show & breed etc so we have. We love it!

We have had a couple that have died on us the past couple of days so I am very upset about all of that (I have that listed under rabbitrys, sick hollands). I hope that is over with.

It is hard to find some good breeders out there & I am learning lots of lessons! My daughter pays for all of her rabbits & I let the people know up front that hey these are for a youth breeder. Some will actually take care of them. Others "try" to take care of them & then flip out on you if you do not have everything posted on your site giving them full credit... While others who give you free bunnies (culls that they did not want because of disqualifications) if you sell them/give them away to someone else they have a fit because "they were a gift".

But other than that it is a blast! I love to see my daughter go show her bunnies. I have some theof the lionheads we have (sheagain owns most &she boughtthem with her own money) so I am hooked on showing them.

I come home from a bad or hard day at work & I can not wait to get out to see them, pet them, brush them or jsut cuddle with them! My hubby does not mind either. He knows where we both are & he is even hooked now!

I just love the little guys (and gals) they bring so much joy & peace! How can you be in a bad mood when you look at a little lop baby that is sittng in the food dish staring at you with what looks like a smile :) I know I just melt looking at them!

You can check out my website at: www.DelightfulDarlingsRabbitry.com we have some cutiepies on there. I have more than what is on there I just need to update my site & add the pictures.

I am going to the MD show... If anyone is going let me know, I would love to meet you guys!
