a lot of ear wax

my female 9 year old lop eared bunny has a lotof ear wax down deep in both her ears. i just noticed it today when iwas brushing her and checking her over. i also smelt the ears and theyhave a weird smell to them. has anyone ever had a rabbit with a lot ofbuilt up ear wax? and what did you do? she is going to the vet on Wen.but i thought there might be something i could do now.

Two of mine have the problem. One justcannot get to the ears with the hind legs due to injury. Theother just has an on going problem. I get most of it outusing my little finger. There is also ear clean drops thathelp loosen the wax build up so it comes out easier.

It would probably be best to wait for the vet toclean her ears, and to check for ear infections or mites. Youcould accidently hurt her by trying to clean deep into herears. Lops are notorious for ear problems because they aren'table to clean them well.

Rabbit ear mite medication is very good fordissolving the wax in the ears (I used to use it to clean the was outof show horses ears ).

A little baby oil in the ear should also work well.
