I just got a baby boy bunny that is about 9 weeks old. His teeth seem to be curling under. I am hoping i don't have to trim them. I have given him toys to chew on but he is not interested. He is eating and drinking just fine he is on a diet of timothy hay and purina pellets. No veggies yet since he is so young.

Do you have pics?

How long have you had him? Since birth? If not, what was he eating before you got him? Rabbits really should have at least a bit of vegetation from the time their old enough to nibble, they do best down the road with a variety of food when they're weaning. They will naturally eat what their mothers eat.

Toys never work around here, they only chew on cardboard boxes, toilet paper rolls with hay stuffed in them, and sometimes fruit tree branches. The best tooth-trimmer is natural vegetation like grass, weeds and vegetables that haven't had the fiber bred out of them. (Humans may prefer tender veggies, but it's not natural for rabbits).

If he does have a bad malocclusion, might be best to have them removed while he's still young, but I'd like to hear from more experienced people on whether it can/will correct itself.

I have only had him for a few days and I am really not sure what diet he was on previous to my getting him (rescue situation) the teeth aren't crooked or even misaligned just look like they are curling under. I talked to a friend who had the same issue with one of her bunnies and the teeth were trimmed once while she was being spayed and once they were aligned they stayed aligned with hay and grasses. I will try and get pictures tonight if he will allow it. He is not one for holding still (hyper baby!) Thanks so much for the advice!
