Oh man! Your rabbits must have an incredible life!
I see some snow. What province or state do you live and how cold can the rabbits tolerate?

Thank you for your kind words. I live in Ontario on the edge of Algonquin Park. The insulated garage gets down to -10c or so while the bunny barn which is uninsulated but well ventilated gets down to -20c. I use bunny boxes filled with processed straw, heated water bowls and chicken coop heater in the barn. Using a thermal cam on my phone i can check that they are keeping their body temperatures at 35c as well as digital sensors that alarm if things get too hot cold or damp.

I want all my animals, bunnies, chickens, ducks as well as 2 dogs and 4 rescure cats to feel like they have won the lottery. I am retired and now that is my job and we all work hard together to make sure everybody is thriving.

I have a running ad for bunnies and once they pass my screening i give them away for free so i can stay on top of the numbers. Three went last week and another 4 planned to go out 2 weeeks after easter. I wont adopt any out close to easter for their safety.

Well, being a bunny parent makes me live in their large hutch, which just happens to be my house...

That's ok for me no problem. It's just, it looks "strange" to outsiders, and right now I'm expecting the police to show up for the gun storage check, every 5 years, and that's how my kitchen, where the safe is, looks like..., *sigh*, that hardly gives a good impression about mental health etc. to people who don't know how much rabbits enjoy chewing stuff...
That is going to be somewhat awkward...

I say….run for the hills!!!

Elvis is one of our Christmas adoptions and here he is the day before his wife arrives checking out his new water bowl heater in his Lionhead Ranch...

Dad always picked me up for cuddle time. My rescue dad saved me, & my 4-legged NZW furry Mom, and 8 siblings from death by predators after we were dumped in a semi-industrial part of the city. After my neuter surgery and I moved to my individual private bedroom space, I would come bounding over to circle, hum, and buzz around Dad's feet while he worked on a project. The tooth purrs while Dad cuddled brought inner happiness to my human Mom. My rescue bunny Dad looked forward to our special bonding time!! Mom did a lot of errands getting us the bestest cilantro and veggies - or Treats! (did I mention an occasional 'nana slice ?) - that kept us healthy well into our senior years.

My 2.5 year old mini rex cross loves wine and ceasers! Seriously!! I'll can leave a glass of milk or water or tea and it is of no interest to him.
The minute I turn my back on a glass of wine or a ceaser, he immediately hops up to slurp some down! It's bizarre!
I now have to take my glass with me every single time I get up!!
Last night I came this Dune doing this when he had hay in his cage. The funniest part is this hay bag was on top of his cage which is higher than part of the gate I use to keep him in his pen. Apparently hay bags are better than freedom.

Our cats do the same thing!View attachment 64067

Cookie and Elvis

Apologies for the length of the post and the number of clips but this is a story I thought some would like. Thanks if you make it to the end.

At Christmas I adopted a group of 4 Lionheads to live in my community of mostly giant bunnies. One of them, Elvis seemed to getting chased alot and keeping his distance. I decided to give him the medical quarantine enclosure and find him a girl from the group. While I was deciding who would be easiest to bond I learned of a situation that could help. A friend had got 2 lionhead does for her young daughter and it wasn't working out. One was dominating the other, they were not taking to the litter box and one nipped her young owner.

I ended up taking her pair and she got one my Flemish babies, Buttercup. Together they are enjoying the kind of life they had hoped for. Buttercup is not only litter trained, she now free roams 24hrs a day with no issues. They are thrilled.

I ended up putting Brownie with my 3 Lionheads in the Bunny Barn and timid Cookie in with Elvis in their new Lionhead Ranch. Brownie is doing fine as all the Lionheads have a claimed a corner in the Bunny Annex and get along fine with the giants. No drama.

But Cookie and Elvis have been inseperable since the moment they met. Never a stern word and always taking care of each other. Now they are planning for a family and living their best life.

This experience has been one of the best things I have experienced since i began caring for my bunny community. I hope it brings a smile to similalry minded folks.
