Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is staying safe during this time! I would like to get people's suggestions and opinions to see if my rabbits lifestyle is healthy for him. This may be a long post about his daily routine but I want to make sure my rabbit will stay happy and healthy! :)

I adopted a neutered, litter trained havana mix from a rescue society mid June of this year (was 4 yrs old). He is now about 6 months old! He was very scared and shy in the beginning but he is now getting a little more comfortable around us which makes me soo happy. The first 1-1/2 month he was in a 4x6 c&c cage but he is now free roam in our bunny-proofed apartment. He gets the whole apartment (about 800 square ft) so the living room/kitchen (combined), our computer room (no access to wires) and a small bathroom (with no windows). We always close our bedroom door since we do not want him hiding under/jump on our bed. So ever since he has been free roaming our home, he has been going to our bathroom around 7am everyday. Our apartment is a corner unit facing East = pretty hot during summer so we keep the AC on all the time.

Since he hangs out in our washroom because its the coolest room in our apartment, I made sure to put 2nd litterbox with plenty of hay in there and water bowl. For some reason he does not poop or pee in washroom litter box at all, he just eats the hay. He only poops in his main litterbox which is in the living room when he runs back out there around 7-8pm (what a schedule!). In the middle of this, he would visit me in the computer room around 3-5pm that I hang out in all day because I don't have work. There I give him plenty of pets and pellets. Then he would leave to go to the living room (6-8pm) for the rest of the night which use to be his main chilling area. After my husband gets off work around the same time, we would spend time with him in the living room watching t.v until 11pm. He would zoom and bink to distract us which is quite cute!

I noticed that this is his routine so I am just wondering if its healthy for him not to go poop/pee from 7am-8pm every single day. He is not acting strange at all, he does zoomies, binkies, fur looks great, grooms himself, eats pellets/hay/treats normally, drinks water, poops in the evening and sits still for pets. I hope this is nothing to worry about but wanted to double check. Thank you so much for reading this long post! Here is a picture of him hanging out with us in our computer room!

Sounds perfectly fine! I've had rabbits that would spend all day out of their cage and not potty until they returned to their cage in the evening -- even though they had constant easy access back to their cage.

Seems that he is doing great!

The only question I had is whether he is 6 months or 6 years since you wrote "(was 4 yrs old). He is now about 6 months old! " :) After 6 months of age, pellets should be limited based on body weight. I only mention this since it was stated that he gets "plenty of pets and pellets."

Hello Blue eyes! Thank you for replying to my post, I really appreciate it! :D
I feel less stressed as a new bunny mom. I just want him to stay healthy. Thank you for catching that as well, I meant to write 4 months old haha

I made a mistake and wrote unlimited pellets when I meant unlimited hay. The rescue society suggested 2 x 1/4 cup a day and spread out so once in morning and once at night.

He is so cute!! What amazing ears!!

Thank you BarneyBabe! His ears are so big and was tattooed by the rescue group I adopted from to keep track that he was neutered and in case anyone finds him outdoor. He is a little brat but makes up with his cuteness! ๐Ÿ˜„

Wow your doing great! He is living his best life!๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you HoppyRabbits! That means so much to me and I hope Pumi is happy. This is my first rabbit and I have been wanting one for years. I made sure to educate myself on Youtube. Your buns are so cute and reminds me of Pumi!
Thanks! What breed is Pumi? My rabbits are Havana. ๐Ÿ˜

Pumi is also a havana mix!! There are actually quite a lot where I live just roaming the parks which is why the rabbit rescue group was able to rescue so many. Every time I go out to run errands I see Pumi's brothers and sisters running free and eating all the grass ๐Ÿ˜†
