1st rabbit - dirty genitals

I was given a 6 year old Male unfixed rabbit yesterday from someone who said they were allergic. On further inspection I noticed Matt's around his neck. Also his genitals look gross like somethings wrong. How should I clean them. I think it's because he humps a lot.. and also I don't think it's scent glands because I looked that up and it is not brown. It does srink though.

The dirty poop is probably from his cecotropes. They really smell. I would clean them off with a little hydrogen peroxide and cotton balls or Q-tips. As for the mats around his neck, I would just brush them out. If the mats are under his chin, make sure that he is not drooling. That would be a sign of teeth problems.

No need for hydrogen peroxide on his sensitive skin! Stick to just warm water. If the matts are really bad you will need to cut them off either very carefully with scissors ( being careful of his thin skin) or will clippers. Or the vet can sedate and dematt if he won’t tolerate it. Best to get them off as can really tug on the skin and get painful.

We use unscented baby wipes from Walmart to clean up the nethers. I'd also get him neutered.
