Right - when I lived in NY, what came from the tap was city water. Now that I live in MI, what comes from the tap is well-water. Neither taste very good for me, yet I can tell the difference between kitchen water and bath water, but I much rather prefer water that does NOT come from a tap...

Understood. Trust me, as much as my post, or my personality in general may grate on your nerves, I really do understand that. I've been researching into pet food products for a long time now. I've researched ingredients to avoid, and ingredients to look for in dog and cat pet food, and have...

Honestly, what I really think? I think it's convenient. It's convenient for the massive amount of companies to use easy ingredients they can get their hands on. If "Cobalt Carbonate" is easier to get a hold of than "Cobalt Proteinate", manufactures are going to choose the cobalt carbonate...

No, it probably won't change anything. But I thought it was worth to mention, that, APD specifically, seems to care the least about pet care health, concerning all the ingredients and agents they've thrown into their products. Thing is, our bodies are more "advanced" than other critter's. We...

People speak of wanting to give their pets an "all natural" diet, so how is it natural if there's cancer-causing ingredients and other crap stuff thrown in there? Seriously. Even if more rabbits diet from GI issues, cancer-causing ingredients should NOT be overlooked, and they should, in my...

APD isn't a good brand - they use parabens in their product. While "cobalt carbonate" may not be harmful, parabens definitely are, no matter which way you look at it. Besides, Dave, as I mentioned in my most recent post, cobalt proteinate can be be used to prevent against cobalt deficiencies...

Found some other brands that sound okay: Marshall's Peter Rabbit: http://www.rabbitmart.com/shop/index.php?page=shop-flypage-29668 Here's the actual manfacturer website: http://www.marshallpet.com/peters/peters_nutrition.html FM Brown's "Natural Rabbit Food...

Sure, the cobalt sulfate and cobalt carbonate are usually listed as the very last ingredients. And usually, in pet foods, ingredients are listed in order of the quantity the food contains. Most of these companies that use cobalt ingredients, their pellets would probably only include trace...

That's not a problem, :) I'm doing research into dog and cat pet foods too, and though I found bad ingredients in the majority of brands, it wasn't anything like this. No cat or dog products use parabens or other toxic chemicals...just ingredients that are "meat leftovers" like byproducts. I...

I wasn't totally sure where to put this...but as this applies to rabbit nutrition in general, I figured this would be the best place. But this isn't a question. A while ago, I heard, in this post as a matter of fact, that some of you feed "American Pet Diner" to your rabbits, otherwise known...

    Fun Food?

Zupreem's rabbit pellets contain corn ingredients, though, which isn't healthy for them as far as I know. And the "spinach" that it contains is high in calcium(probably more than the rabbit needs). http://www.heartlandhumane.org/pub.03/?q=rabbit_diet_faq Probably isn't too much of a concern...

    Litter Box Question

Bunnymom,K wrote: Um..if you only want each of them for a maximum of 5 years, you should probably neuter them all. The percentage for female rabbits developing uterine cancer is 86% between the ages of 4 - 6 years old.

    Litter Box Question

My rabbit is litter-trained, she took to it immediately. She pees in it, she does poop in it, but she does also leave one small pile of poops in a separate corner, and she leaves a few single ones here and there. I take care of maybe..10 poops total each day, so it's really not much.

What kind of pellet feed do you feed your bunnies?

CKGS wrote: I feed Manna Pro Pro Formula. :) I don't know if it's the best out there - but you can pick up a 50 lb bag of it at your local TSC for under 16 bucks. And as we can't afford to go out much, that's what we get. I haven't had any issues with the Manna Pro; Honey seems to like it...

    Cages AND Comments 2009

I don' t know, to be honest. I consulted a friend who was a small-time breeder of rabbits, and she apparently thinks Honey is a dutch/dwarf mix. So... I'm not really sure what to tell you. :/

    Hermit crabs

Make sure you have shells of various sizes; larger(even larger than you'd expect for the hermit crab to need) and shells the same size as the crab. Also, you're going to need to bathe them(actually, more like rinsing them off) run a crab under cool water, then let the water drain out of the...

What kind of pellet feed do you feed your bunnies?

I've looked into Zupreem - as knowledgable as their site may seem, their rabbit product contains corn ingredients, corn is absolutely unnecessary ingredient in rabbit pellets, and it's been proven to lead to digestive health issues.

    Personalities?

Any rabbit I've had has been like a cat: very hygienic, and VERY wary of what they're putting into their bodies. My rabbit, Honey, won't even eat fruit, because she feels it's of no nutritional value to her. That's more than I can say for dogs, or even my guinea pig, as both, in my opinion...

    Rabbits & Dogs

Foot thumping, regardless, means the rabbit is sending off a warning signal that it doesn't like something. When they "squeal" is when you should worry. Rabbits only squeal when they're incredibly stressed out, and that's the only time I think you should worry. :)
