I brush my rabbit weekly but when she molts, I do it almost every other day. It's crazy how much fur comes off these little hoppers. During a heavy molt, I brush off a handful of fur (probably the size of a softball as @Blue eyes mentioned).

Your bunny is relaxed and that's why he's laying on his side. It's a good sign :) Mine does it quite often and it's so funny to see them like that. When she's flopped over, I can see her little choppers when she falls asleep lol.
