Does he seem gassy at all? If you have simethicone (baby gas relief drops) on hand I'd recommend giving some of that and monitoring him. I'd suggest trying to find a vet now just in case.

If they aren't fighting in the large space I doubt it'll be an issue. Some pairs prefer smaller spaces and some pairs like like a larger, open space. Why do you think the space is too big?
