HELP I THINK MY BUNNY FAINTED!?

There are different types of seizures; the rabbit doesn’t need to shake while having it. What you described is a seizure to me. A regular check up at the Emergency Department can’t detect if the rabbit had a seizure after it’s over. Rabbits and animals in general don’t play dead in that...

Why do rabbit rescues have so much rules!?

There are of course exceptions. I didn’t mean people shouldn’t adopt from shelters, or that adopted rabbits are less healthy (it’s just my experience), but I just wanted to point out that there are also other options, such as breeders, and that there are responsible ones, as you said. There are...

Baby bunny licking me and snuggling?

How did you know that he’s 5 weeks old, if I may ask? Size is not always an indicator of age. Licking and snuggling are normal rabbit behaviors in my opinion. Even older rabbits lick and snuggle with other rabbits and humans, so it’s not a behavior specific to rabbits younger than 8 weeks...

Why do rabbit rescues have so much rules!?

Animal shelters exaggerate about pretty much everything. You always have the option of buying from a breeder. I’m not a breeder, but I bought my latest rabbits from breeders and they are healthier and have better temperaments than my previous mixed breed rabbits.

Netherlands dwarf vs mini Rex behavior

I have 2 purebred Netherland Dwarf and Mini Rex bucks, so I think I can answer your question. Contrary to the popular belief that Netherland Dwarves are aggressive and skittish, mine is actually the opposite. He is energetic, interacts often with me, clean, curious, and very intelligent. My...

Flemish Giant Babies (growth progress) - Cuteness Overload (Eyes starting to open)

Thanks. Exactly, I think it’s most probably a runt too.

Flemish Giant Babies (growth progress) - Cuteness Overload (Eyes starting to open)

Just curious as to how 2 Flemish Giant rabbits could produce a peanut. Are both parents purebred or have the size of a Flemish Giant?

What breed is my (purebred) rabbit?

If he doesn’t have Rex fur, then he’s not Rex. I just think he might be a Mini Rex “mix”, taking the body shape of it, but not the fur type. He also looks like a Dwarf Papillon mix.

What breed is my (purebred) rabbit?

Definitely not Britannia Petite or Polish. I also don’t think it carries the dwarf gene. He looks like a Mini Rex rabbit, even though the fur doesn’t look rex fur. I think he’s a Mini Rex mix.

    What breed are these bunnies?

The first two are double-mane Lionhead, that’s why their fur is long. Lionhead breed originated by mixing Swiss Fox rabbits with Netherland dwarf. Swiss Fox rabbits were partly bred from Angora.

    What breed are these bunnies?

Hi! The first two are Lionhead and the third looks like an English Angora.

Can this Brittania Petite be a show rabbit?

Thanks. However, the coat is white and the eyes are blue.

Can this Brittania Petite be a show rabbit?

Another question. Would you say she rather looks like a Polish (the U.S. Polish breed) rabbit?

Can this Brittania Petite be a show rabbit?

Thanks for your reply. The body is not thick, it just appears so because the fur is a little bit long. That’s definitely not considered long fur compared to other breeds of rabbit. I’m not sure I understand what you mean by frosty. Could you please explain?

Can this Brittania Petite be a show rabbit?

That’s the official website of Polish (Britannia Petite) rabbits in the UK: http://nationalpolish.co.uk/photos.htm You can notice how the winning and shown rabbits have more compact bodies and longer bones than in the American standards. I would say the only downside to my rabbit is the longer...

Can this Brittania Petite be a show rabbit?

Britannia Petite should be posed as high compact as well, but it can be difficult to get them to pose so because this breed gets distracted easily. There’s no equivalent to the Polish rabbit in Britain to the best of my knowledge

    What breeds are they?

I am not a breeder, but I keep rabbits as pets and know a lot about the characteristics of rabbit breeds. I live in Germany, and there are German standards for breeding rabbits, but I usually also refer to the British standards. I’m mainly interested in Holland Lops (Miniature Lops in Britain)...

Can this Brittania Petite be a show rabbit?

I usually use the British standards to determine a breed or to measure the show quality of the rabbit. In Britain, Britannia Petite is called Polish. The differences are minimal, but the Polish is certainly a little bit thicker and more compact according to the British standards. I think my...
