Need Independent bun sitter or reliable "business" in Long Island NY

I'm not from the area, but maybe try reaching out to local (ethical) breeders. One thing I do is offer boarding to all of my past babies and other bunnies in need of it! So I always have an empty cage just in case 😉 As a breeder I offer some in-home services but not many others are willing to do...

    Preventing Heat Stroke

It's scorching here in Washington state, reaching temperatures of 110+ degrees Fahrenheit today. This is unheard of! Keeping the bunnies from overheating is obviously my biggest concern right now. I'd like to share some tips to prevent this: • Dip the ends of their ears into cold water. This...

CAN my rabbit be a Holland Lop?

Her face shape and long ears lead me to believe that she is a Mini Lop, not a Holland Lop.

Ticking on a Broken Patterned Rabbit?

Ah okay thanks for explaining! Thankfully he is going to a pet home.

Ticking on a Broken Patterned Rabbit?

I'm fairly new to breeding broken patterns in Holland Lops. I thought this baby was a broken black from birth, but as he gets older (currently 10 weeks old), more and more white hairs are showing across his body - not just where the colors meet! My question is, is this normal with broken...

Do does gain weight even though they’ve barely been pregnant?

I usually weigh before breeding, halfway through pregnancy, and the day before her due date. This way, you have an accurate way to determine if she's pregnant. Depending on the breed, she should gain a few ounces throughout her pregnancy...

Why are ethical breeding standards always different? (what are your ethical breeding standards)

To me, ethical breeding is rewarding work. Rabbit heath always, always comes first! I personally offer lifetime support and this includes taking back bunnies if their new homes don't work out. Yes, it happens more than you would think. But I do this to keep my rabbits out of the shelters and...

When should I take the nesting box out of the cage?

I do the same as @SableSteel. Whenever they stop using it, I pull it out (usually around 3 weeks old... 2 weeks is too early in my opinion, but it also depends on the weather). If you leave it in too long, they will start using it as a litter box potty corner. Also, it's important to clean it...

Help new mom has blood in her urine

Many of my past breeding does have had red urine for 1-2 days after giving birth. It's totally normal, as long as it returns normal quickly. Sometimes it can be caused from a small vent rip / tear, especially for first time mamas.

    Baby bunnies:) -Where to list?

Hoobly & Craigslist & Friends / Family. Ideally a website, though! (If you have more than one litter, it's worth the work - there are many free templates out there).

    Holland lop or mini lop

He is a false dwarf Holland Lop (meaning he is on the bigger side for a HL, but it's common). His color is a orange / black tri-color!

    Bonding Resources

Yes, the majority of my rabbits sold are for pets because they carry the Vienna (blue-eye) gene. I occasionally do show-quality litters, too. However, I also sell for therapy companions (ESA's) and to a few approved breeders. I only sell same-*** pairs, unless we have a neuter / spay contract...

Help with sexing 6.5 week old Holland Lops

Boys (Bucks): Comet and Nova. Girl (Doe): Star. Milky Way and Ozzie are harder to tell, but I am thinking both are bucks.

    Bonding Resources

I'm looking for some bonding-related website articles / videos to help educate people who buy pairs / trios from me, a breeder!

    lack of mother rabbit's milk

Calf Manna will enhance your does' milk flow. I suggest giving 1 tablespoon daily until babies are 4 weeks old. My usual rule of thumb is that babies should foster seamlessly if within a week apart. If there is only an 8 day gap, it may be your best chance of keeping the baby alive.

Can someone help me identify the colour genes of my lop doe please

Could she provide you with a full, 3-generation pedigree? Chocolate torte split is also known as chocolate tort Vienna marked (which is how your girl got her blue eyes!). A blue butterfly means a broken patterned blue. @SableSteel may be able to help you further with color ID.

Can someone help me identify the colour genes of my lop doe please

Could you contact the breeder to see if she has the parents' pedigrees? There are a lot of "broken brown" variations, my guess would be broken chocolate or broken chestnut :)

Can someone help me identify the colour genes of my lop doe please

Most likely a frosty. Again, a pedigree (or even just knowing her dam and sire) can confirm this. She is Vienna marked (that white forehead blaze) and therefore carries the blue eye gene and will pass that down to some of her babies, depending on who she is bred to. This link is more helpful...
