    Breeding a magpie holland lop

magpie x magpie will get you mostly magpie, but magpie is not really a desirable color in holland lops; its not in the breed standard.

Suggestions Safe Nesting Materials - need NOW....lol

When I prepare nestboxes, I add about 2-3 inches of kiln-dried pine shavings, then fill in the rest (~6-7 inches) with a grass hay. You want the hay as tightly packed as possible; the doe will burrow into and displace most of it.

    Babies!

12 is a large litter. For a large breed of rabbit the average is about 6-10. Mother rabbits cant count. Kindling is difficult, the doe might be still tired. Usually with the larger litters there are less complications; with there being 12 kits, each kit is proportionally smaller than if there...

    Pure Chamgagne had white babies!?

Looks like its actually a pointed white. It will get lighter as it gets older. That likely means that a Californian was bred to that line of champagnes (which some people might do to try and improve the type of the champagnes)

How much pellets do i feed my jersey wooly (3 months, 0.9 pounds) per day?

Jersey woolies are hard to overfeed. They really need a high protein diet because of their wool. I would feed 1/3 cup of high protein rabbit food; thats what I gave my jersey wooly when I had him

Please help need an answer- water bowls with babies?

You could use a raised water dish that is too tall for the babies to get in. That is what I usually do; attach a dish to the side of the cage so only the mother can reach it until the babies would be old enough to jump out of the water.

Nice! I have a parakeet as well (a rose-ringed parakeet)

    Breed? New bun!

If only one of the kits had it, it was likely because of the vienna gene, not the dutch gene. Vienna is found in most small pet breeds; dutch is only found in dutch (well, and dwarf hotot and blanc de hotot but you dont see those very often). To get that much white from the dutch you need...

    Breeding question

People usually do a one month quarantine before introducing new rabbits to their stock. If you are getting a buck from that same person, it would be safe to breed them to that buck immediately.

BEW to frosty (sable based) VM buck

VM x BEW has a 50% chance for each kit to be BEW and a 50% chance for each kit to be VC or VM

What breed would you guess this rabbit is?

Mix breed. Could be a new zealand mix; that color (steel) is very common in new zealand mixes.

    What is my bunny breed

It's a mixed breed. You can't usually tell with rabbits what breed went into a mix, like you can with dogs.

    What breed is my bun?

Not mixed with harlequin. Harlequin is a rare breed, and that gene for that color is very common among pet rabbits. He's a mixed breed. You can't know beyond that what he's mixed with.

    Pure Chamgagne had white babies!?

Looks like it is a bleu Some lines of argente rabbits do have blue in them (especially lines that have brun or st hubert in them), but its not common and not desirable in a purebred champagne

Newborn buns. Not sure they are thriving

Baby rabbits are only fed once a day, maybe twice a day. if you look at them in the afternoon it will be a big difference from if you look at them in the morning. I can see milk in a few of these rabbit's bellies still (circled; at this age the skin is thin enough that you can actually see a...

Looking for some help- breeding issues

If the cold seems to be an issue, you might want to look in to shelving rabbits. Baby rabbits should do fine in the nestbox by themselves, as long as they have a good amount of hay and/or shavings beneath them, and enough hay/fur on top of and around them, but especially with first time mothers...

Looking for some help- breeding issues

That's not unusual. They can still take if they urinate after breeding. Could be old blood. Could be dark urine; they often have darker/redder urine after stressful events like kindling.

What color is my Holland lop?

I'd call him a broken orange Could also be a broken torted otter, but orange is more common in the breed and its pretty common to some lines of orange to have heaving ticking that makes it look almost shaded
