So for my Junior Research project I'm doing the history of EMS (which i can't tell you what EMS stands for as it's a question...) and I need to survey 20 people. Basically my teacher didn't help us get the survey's set up, and now they're due tomorrow and no one has there's finished.

So, I need at least 20 people to do the following survey. I need to be able to graph the results by tonight at like 10, at the latest. So please, help me out here! Thanks!

IMPORTANT: Only do this survey if youlive/have lived in the U.S.because I don't know the type of medical services in other countries, and this is for a U.S. History class. ;)

Begin:

1. Do you know what E.M.S stands for?

a. Emergency Medical Supplies

b. Equine Medical Service

c. Early Medical Services

d. Emergency Medical Services

2. Have you ever ridden in an ambulance due to an injury/illness?

a. Yes

b. No

3. Would you ever be a Paramedic? Why or why not? (Doesn't need to be a full on paragraph explaining why or why not; I will just use the explaination in my findings ;))

a.Yes (if so, why?)

b. No (if so, why?)

4. Is anyone in your family an EMT/Paramedic?

a. Yes

b. No

5. If you've ever been treated by paramedics, were you treated well?

a. Yes (short explaination)

b. No (short explaiantion)

Thanks SOOO much you guys! :)

3. a
I'm currently an Animal Science major hoping to study veterinary medicine, so, obviously I enjoy medicine. I think there would be a certain element of not knowing what to expect associated with being an EMT.
4. b
5. Not Applicable

1. d
2. b
3. b - No because I don't think that I could handle the pressure of trying to keep someone alive and the guilt if someone died on my watch.
4. b
5. n/a

5. If you've ever been treated by paramedics, were you treated well?

a. Yes (short explaination) - A couple of times. One a few years ago when we had a strange smell - turned out it was old gasoline from a neighbor's house that drained it next to our windows (she had hired some idiot! lol) and it made us all very sick. They took our vitals, firemen aired out our house and we were ok - emt's were very kind and comforting.
b. No (short explaiantion)

b. No (if so, why?) - I'd be too afraid of screwing up. This is the kind of field where if you mess up, it could have really bad consequences.

4. Is anyone in your family an EMT/Paramedic?

b. No

5. If you've ever been treated by paramedics, were you treated well?

N/A ... I've never been treated by paramedics

1) d
2) b
3) a. If I end up going into the fire service, I would consider being a paramedic after a couple years because it's nice to specialize in something.
4) I'm EMT certified and have actually taken and passed the test in Washington and Alaska. In Washington, I had the best grade in the class out of 35 people and got an award for it. Go me! No one else in my family is an EMT or paramedic though.
5) a. I had some weird heart palpitations during fire department training and my lieutenant called a paramedic unit. They were very nice of course. They wanted to take me to the hospital but let my mom drive me to the hospital she works at so I could get the EKG done for free.

3. B - I don't like the fast paced/unpredictable environment, quick critical thinking would be important for an EMT/Paramedic. Emergency services aren't for me.;-)

a. Yes (short explaination), yes they were very professional, assessed the situation correctly I felt, were calm and reassuring and got me back on my feet.

1. D

2. Yes

3. No. I don't do well with blood or in stressful situations. I also can't hurt people. I tried being a nurse once and I couldn't even stick people's finger for blood sugar.

4. No

5. Yes. I was a child so I don't remember too much about it. I was transferred from one hospital to another so the first hospital already stabilized me and it was just a ride in the ambulance where they could monitor me and keep my IV in. I remember thinking it was cool to look out the back window while laying on the cot and see all the cars. They must have been nice to me or I would have remembered.
