I live in Kaneohe, Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I've traveled quite a bit but I can't compare Hawaii to anywhere else. It is so diverse. There are people with so many ethnicities and culture. Hawaii is very cultural. There's always some kind of cultural festivity, whether it's a pow-wow or a bon dance, people of all races celebrate.

Hawaii is a part of the United States. In fact it's the 50th state. It's interesting how many people don't know that including Americans!

As for school, public elementary school kids start at 8AM and end at 2:00PM. Public high schools start at 8AM and end at 2:30PM. School is five days a week. I'm in college now and have classes three days a week from 9:30AM to 3PM. :)

In Japan I had school five days a week, and six days the next week. The weeks rotated. The sixth day would be on a Saturday. The elementary school I went tostarted at 8:30AM and ended at 3:30PM. It was a really interesting experience. We had a teacher who taught all subjects but English. We had an English teacher who was actually from Venezuela and she also spoke Spanish. Lunch was served to the homeroom and their lunches were delicious!

Yokohama is a really safe place. I caught the train by myself when I was eight. There were even younger kids catching the train. The crime rate is low compared to America's. I haven't been to Japan in nearly eight years and I miss it so much! If things go as planned, I might visit this summer for a couple weeks. :)

I lost my jacket at the Edmonton Mall! LOL! We were traveling from Alaska to Ohio and stopped at the Edmonton Mall for ONLY 3 hours! I was 7 and still remember just about everything that I saw in that mall. I remember watching a bunch of people running to this one 'room' and to then realize that it was a little pool/beach thing. ;)But being 7 and being in a van for 14 hours a day for 7 days, you bet my parents stopped at the 'amusement park' in the mall LOL! That's where I lost my jacket too. :dunno

I wish my parents would have taken photos of our 'van' when we were making that cross country 'move'. LOL! We had a mini van that my dad put a tv/vcr in so we could watch 'barney' all the way to Ohio. We had 2 top carriers and my pink bicycle on top. Attached to the mini van was an old fashion pop up camper that had a tarp over the top of the actual 'tent' part. Strapped on top of the trailer was my brother's little tikes tricyle. Not to mention the BRIGHT yellow Alaska license plates and the dirt caked on the van from the Alaska Highway. We traveled it when it wasn't paved and was FULL of pot holes! :privateeyesWe would also stop on the side of the road with our little blue picnic table that had the 'seats attached' and ate instead of eating in restruants all the time! LOL! It was an 'army' move so they gave us money to eat out every meal and hotel money. But instead we stopped at restruants every other day and camped at campgrounds for $20 a night instead of $60 to $80 a night.

So yeah...the Edmonton Mall ROCKS!!

I live just outside of Daytona Beach, FL and I work in Orlando (an hour away). Summers are hot and very humid and winters are fabulous. Daytona Beach is very touristy. We have to endure the Daytona 500, Bike Week, and Biketoberfest every year. We are entertained by hurricanes every summer. I have lived here for almost two years. I moved here from Huntington Beach, CA.

I live in the city of Edinburgh in Scotland. It's a really beautiful historic city, Edinburgh castle is right in the middle of it up on a rock and surrounded by princes street gardens. They have a huge firework display let off from the castle at the end of the Edinburgh festival.

There is lots of other lovely old arcitecture too but I like it because it is a lively city with lots of bars, restaurants etc but it is not too big so you can quickly get out into the countryside or to the beach if you want.

Also there are several hills in the city with parks round them, often with a duckpond at the bottom. Arthurs seat is the biggest and is just behind the Scottish parliament building. So there are lots ofnice parks to visit.

This photo shows a street in edinburgh just off the meadows on the day of the make poverty history march.

Cool. Do you ever see bottlenose dolphins or humpback whales? I am studying whales and dolphins this year at uni and the humpback breeding grounds are in hawaii I think. The lecturer who teachesus did most of her research at the dolphin institute in hawaii. I would love to see them

I'm from New York City. Crazy place. Lots and lots and lots of people. Work hours are insane. (one time i worked 32 hours straight, no sleep or anything!) great view though up here on the 49th floor. lets see, commuting is horrible here. i have to take a bus and 2 subways to get to work. rent is outrageous. i pay $1200 for a small 2 bedroom (one bris for the bunnies!) and basically, im dying to move to the country, where its nice and quiet.

I live in South Australia in a city called Adelaide,we only have 7 states of Australia and South Australia is the smallest state,i have lived here all my 32 years of my life,it is such a lovely state to live in,my sons primary school starts at 8:50 and finishes at 3:10pm,my other son who is in high school starts at 8:30 and finishes at 3:15pm.

South Australia is classed as the wine making capitol of Australia, out in the beautiful country is the Barossa Valley,Clare Valley just to name two big names in wine making.

we also have this wooden toy factory in the Adelaide Hills at Gumeracha,it is so pretty up there, well anyway they have this huge rocking horse,im not sure of the exact height but im sure its around 50 feet high could be higher, and you can climb it,but of all the times i have been there i have never climed it lol i am petrified of heights lol, everyone just waves to the sook down the bottom:)

there is still so much more that goes with South Australia:D

Yeah, there are boats that go out for whale and dolphin watching. In fact, February is the best time to go whale watching. I'm not sure about the dolphins, but the whales travel all the way from Alaska to breed down here and care for their babies. I think they're here from December to April. The University of Hawaii has a great marine science program. You should check it out.
