Hello,

We have two Flemish Giants. As I understand, it'sbest to switch from alfalfa pellets to timothy rather early. However, I noticed that that timothy pellets are lower inprotein. Our bunnies are about 5.5 months old, and shouldstill be growing (they're certainly smaller than theirparents). We've just recently switched them to Timothypellets, but they clearly prefer the alfalfa. We also feedthem free-choice timothy hay (I'm very happy with the price and qualityfrom BunnyBales), and daily greens. Should we switch back toalfalfa?

Thanks!

Hello! :)

I asked the same thing a time ago, and these are the answers I got:

The above thread also includes a good way to gradually switch (which isVERY important to do, for digestive health). :)

I've started switching both my girls now, as they are both over the age of seven months. :)

Hope that helps!

I got Harper when he was 6 months old, and Istarted switching him to timothy based pellets when he was about 10-11months old after a bout with GI stasis. It was then that the vetoriginally recommended timothy based because it is higher in fiber(good for GI health) and lower in calcium than alfalfa based pellets.
