Probably Chili's but I also love this place called Penn Station Subs - I think they are only in Indiana and Ohio. They make really good Philly Cheesesteak subs - and the bread is amazing!

My favorite place is a little italian place called Open Kitchen. It's been an uptown Charlotte "hidden treasure" for years. They have pics of people like Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr from the 50's where they signed them when they visited Charlotte and ate there. You could spend hours looking at all of the photos, they cover the walls and ceiling in the foyer area.

I took Chris there for our first Valentine's Day back in '05 :inlove: Come to think of it that's the last time I went!! Time to go again! It's one of those "in the know" places. Usually only locals know about it and tourists would probably never want to go in because it looks really run down and isn't in the best part of town.

Can't say there's many restaurants around here that I like very much. A couple of places in the Market area downtown (Blue Cactus is one), but that's about it.

When I was in Washington my sister and I happened upon a little place called 'Uno's' and stopped in for lunch. I loved it there! Wish we had one here. :)

Di, have you been to Japanese Villlage? It is my favorite restaurant here, and they have one in Ottawa. The steak sauce is to DIE FOR!!!
Anyone coming to Victoria any time? I'll take you to Japanese Village!!

I've never had Japanese before. I love Chinese but am not sure how much of a difference there is in the two. (The only thing I do know is that I don't care for sushi...but my son loves it.) Next time my sister gets a craving to go out for dinner I'll suggest it to her.

I just looked up Japanese Village and it's right in the middle of downtown, so it's not far. :)

fun thread, who doesnt love to talk about food? yum

J. Alexanders has a great veggie burger. yum.
I love love love good mexican, Mexican Lindo is a local place here
The Melting Pot is a great once in a great while fun with friends
and Bravos is probably my favorite italian place- yum!

My favorite depends on what I want to eat. If I want a TDF salad, I love Applebee's Sante Fe Chicken Salad. For Steak, Texas Roadhouse. For chicken, Ryan's Steakhouse/Buffet. Japanese: Hanayori (one of those places that they cook the food right at the table. It's SO good!!). For fish, there's a Garlic-lime Salmon Filet at Chili's. Shrimp/lobster: Red Lobster, of course. For fast food, Fazoli's or Subway. And, for fried, all you can eat fish, there's a little restaurant in the middle of nowhere, near Stroh, Indiana, (population 200?) called "El Mira". I can eat their fried fish until I start to grow gills! Even when she had fairly advanced Alzheimers, if we took my grandma to the Stroh restaurant, instead of El Mira, she would get MAD, and refuse to eat!! Mexican: a local chain called "Hacienda".

Can you tell I love to eat?? :popcorn2

CANCEL ALL OF THE ABOVE!!! DAVE HATES ALL THAT STUFF, EXCEPT THE SEAFOOD! THOSE ARE MY FAVORITES!

I really need to see who's logged in, before I start making posts....:embarrassed:

I used to love Kelsey's until I moved to Mississauga and was intorduced to a lovely little restaurante called Gabriels. OMG it is to DIE for! Their white sauce is amazing and I'd eat a whole meal out of it if I could. Their bread is awsome too especially dipped in their white sauce. I compare all other pasta to them and haven't yet met a place as good or better.

You make me laugh, wabbitmom :)
I love all the food you love! However, we don't have a lot of those chains up here in Canada... How about a care package????
Sure! What sounds good??

I was learning in Ethnobotany (looking at people's usage of plants around the world) last week that spices help to break down food faster, and have anti-bacterial properties associated :)

Makes sense! I love spicy food, and I don't get sick very often... except with TOO much spicy food:p OK, TMI:biggrin2:

:p I almost hate to say it, but my kids' Spanish teacher used to tell them that in the warmer climates (like Mexico) they covered up the nasty taste of "road kill" with the chiles, spices, etc. And like you said, it also had the benefit of killing the harmful bacteria. Kinda makes ya wonder what they put in your food at the Mexican restaurants....

(Eww.. how did we get on this topic??! I'll bet no one's hungry now!)

No way, Jose!

We're just adding to the wonderful world of RO random factoids!

I had dinner a few nights ago at Joey's Only seafood diner. Cajun shrimps and battered random fish species. Must admit, I was wondering how it compared to your wonderful fried fish...

Drool... sushi... yum!

I have frozen crab legs waiting in the freezer for someone special to come visit, so I keep going out for seafood (instead of eating my own...)

Sounds tasty! (Except for sushi, I'm not into that.) The fried fish batter is...spicy!! You'd like it!! And they use a mild, but slightly fishy tasting fish: whiting filets, I believe, and deep fat fry til brown, not crisp. I WAAANNNT SOMMMME!
