What should i do?

I have 2 sister giant lop mixes that i got 3 years ago. So they are about 5 now. My one Midnight she for about the last 2 weeks has been acting weird.

She will just sit their and wont do anything and i saw her fall over once that is when this all started. She will just go and walk into a corner and just dig and dig. She is loosing some hair on 2 places back by her tail i dont now if that means anything. Her teeth,ears,eyes,nose and everything else looks fine. She will eat a little then just walk away and stare then go back and eat a little and will do this until its gone.She is going to the bathroom fine too. She was 8.6 and now she is 8.3 so not alot.

I do the same as i have all this time they all get feed 2 times a day and let out one by one in a x-pen to play. She just looks sad but you can tell sometimes she just does not feel good.

Take her to the vet. That sounds like something is going on. Is she spayed?

No she isnt spayed.I had an app at the vet for her to be spayed a week after i got her and she ended up having 7 babbies!! So then i just never maid one agian. I think it might just be she is geeting old:cry2Because she was already a couple years old when i get her and her sister so she could be older than 5. Her sister went blind and she has been to the vet and he said she is just getting old.

She could have something going on then since she's losing hair. She could have worms, or something more serious.

Wait, she's been checked by a vet? is the vet rabbit savvy?

No her sister was a couple months ago i am going to call in the morning.

I think she is stiff do they have meds for arthritus?

And when a rabbit go's blind do to being older their is nothing to do right?

And i have a scale to way them.

Her sister is pretty much all the way blind now.The vet said that it is just her age. They are 5 or older.

Eye problems (resulting in blindesss)may or may not be treated depending on the problem. You would need to have your rabbit diagnosed first. is it glaucoma or cataracts or something else ???

A rabbit can be made more comfortable even with arthritis ( you need to have that diagnosed also) by making their living quarters easier for them (shallow litter box) .and providing the type of flooring that is easiest for them to move abouton. There are some alternative therapies for arthritis like acupuncture (see Kathy Smith's books) in addition to some safe pain meds for an older rabbit
you really should take her to a rabbit knowledgeable vet, have her diagnosed and then go from there

In terms of fur loss on the hind end . if you are sure that your rabbit is not going through a serious molt you have to consider the possibility of fur mites or another dermatologic [problem which require treatment with either something like revolution or ivermectin
I am not sure that your vet is really investigating your bunnies problems

Maybe it would be a good idea to try to find one who is a little more knowledgeble and interested in rabbits.

let us know how both are doing and maybe some more info on them.

Definitely take them to the vet, and maybe try another vet recommended in our listings here just as a second opinion. 5 isn't terribly old (life span of larger breed rabbits is around 7 years, I think). Falling over and the hair loss seem strange to me. Falling could be due to problems sensing which way is up or loss of balance--which are problems with ears or brain, and the hair loss could be mites as mentioned above or possibly she's pulling it out herself if she's in pain (self-mutiliation, but that's not as likely as a skin parasite).

She is with her sister in a flat bottem cage so she dosent have to jump. Her sister has no hair loss at all and all6 of mygirl rabbits run together in my room so i think if she had a skin parasite they would all have it. I do not know her age my guess is 5 but i dont know as she was older when i got her 3 years ago.

They are going in the morning to another vet.

The member m.e. had an elderly rex bunny that was losing fur for no apparent reason too (not that Midnight is very old, but she's getting up there). I'm not sure on the specifics of that story, but it may be something to look into if the new vet doesn't have any ideas. I hope it's something easily treatable that the vet can diagnose. Good luck!

Please do take her to a vet that knows about rabbits. 5 is not very old at all, and certainly no cause for going blind!
My Hazel is 6 years old, and still in perfect health. No blindness, no teeth problems, no arthritis. Sounds to me like your vet just didn't know much about rabbits at all, and wasn't even interested enough to learn about them.
