What kinda oats to feed

For my bunnies, I am using a Tablespoon measuring spoon as a scooper, and Benjamin gets about half of that, once a day. I give them as an additional bedtime treat, and he has them all eaten before I can turn around and walk out the door!

Maybe'll grow on him. It could just be my buns' preference. But I've never had Toby turn down food - any kind!

I gave Toby a teaspoon yesterday and he flicked his ear at me, putting the oats on the floor. Not a fan.

I put them in his food bowl and he ate them overnight. I put some in my palm and he didn't care for them. Soon as I put them in his bowl he started to nibble on them. I held an oat in front of Kirby...and well, I got a "sniff, sniff" and a turn of the head. I put a couple in his bowl and he at them overnight as well. How odd. They don't seem to be in love with oats.
If they aren't used to oats, it can take some time. It took Ronnie a week or two to realize that he liked oats. He'd eat around them and didn't know what to do with them. Still, we continued to give one teaspoon a day, and now he can't get enough. He runs around crazily, jumping in and out of his cage when I come over with the food bowl. (However, neither Billy or Ronnie seem to be getting any fatter. We've been doing this for two years and they both maintain a weight of 2 pounds 5 ounces, so I'm not sure where all these oats are going...)

Oh they're definitely going in the litter box :) You never know though. They might be thinner if you weren't feeding them oats.

That is true, especially due to their activity levels. Both of them run around so much I think they need the oats to maintain a normal weight! :run:

Update: it did not take long: Toby loves oats now! He'll eat them out of his pellet bowl first. The little bunner is catching up now :)

I thought I would say after reading this thread I thought I would try it on my few shelter bunnies that look then to me, and they go crazy over them! At first it was a what is that look but then they now eat them first! They love them!

Yay for oats! I have noticed Toby's poo is a lil bit different since eating a teaspoon of oats daily. I think I'll do a teaspoon every other day. I'm not sure if change in poo is a good thing or not, but I'm not in a rush to plump him up. Slow and steady is good :)
I've taken to eating oatmeal as a little snack too - it's good for you :)
