Two options that can work are waiting til he comes out, then getting down on the floor & gradually approaching him.
In my last apartment i cut & duct taped heavy box cardboard to the sides of the bedstead that were open to the room (this may not be a popular solution but it works very well to keep a bun from diving under the bed!)
