)i thought it might be fun to find out what everybody wants to do(no matter how silly you think it is-i've got a few things that i think i want to do that seem awful silly to me:D!)when they 'grow up'. or what you're doing now that you are 'grown up'. or what you sill want to do, or.......well, y'all get the idea!

here's what i think i want to do-

interior designer

Graphics designer(or something like that; making logo's and stuff)

or maybe something to do with diabetes. one of my 'hero's' is a lady who has had diabetes for 16 years, she's a Certified Diabetes Educator(CDE), she used to work for the clinic i go to(i think that's the right word:p), she now works for a pump company(she did my pump start, too!)and volunteers a ton for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation(JDRF). she's taken something really horrid and done so much for others through it. if i don't work work with something to do with diabetes i deffanatly want to volunteer a ton(although i hope i don't get a chance to domuch, i want a cure sooner than that!).

and my sillyest idea(i think)-

Breed Leopard Geckos. but i think it'd be really cool! crazy, crazy(animal crazy that is!)me:p!

i can't wait to hear everybody elses!

I think I'll pass on raising Geckos.....

I'm not much on things that slither or spin webs.

But they are pretty to look at.

I wish I had "grown up" sooner so I could have been a veterinarian. I wasn't a very studious child or teenager and the only interest I had back then was getting out of high school.

I do like Graphic design though, and have dabbled in it a little and made a little money doing invitations and such for my vets wife. I don't consider myself good enough by any means to make a living at it. Getting some special training in it would be nice.

I'd love to be a professional photgrapher. I love takeing pictures. Especially now with digital cameras. Its so nice to point shoot and virtually see what you've done instantly.

Well my Mum told me that when i was about 3 i said i wanted to work in a shoe shop, and now i do! So i guess i've got what i wanted :p

Anyway, what i actually want to do (don't get me wrong, fitting shoes on petulant little kids whilst beein thwacked over the head with a shoehorn is by no means a bad job) is open a carpentry business, or furniture shop. I'd like to go uni and study either product design or furniture making. Then i will probably go to work in a workshop or get an apprenticeship. My dream job at the end of the line is to own my own workshop and make bespoke furniture. Then i can make rabbit hutches and runs galore for all you lovely people!

Ever since I could talk i've always wanted to be a vet. My whole family know's me for being the one with that "connects with the animals".

When I was little I called it "animal doctor", then "vet" and now I actually call it "veterinarian".

I can't picture myself doing anything else, and if I don't work with animals when i'm older, I won't consider my life complete ;).

I'd love to work in a field with animals, but I'm open to a lot of things :D.

I would love to become a veterinarian, but it is so competitive and expensive, not sure if it would be realistic for myself. A couple years in pre-vet, then if I'm even able to get in to USASK, then another 4 years or so.. never mind I'd have to move to Saskatchewan or further east, so that doesn't really work with my 10 year plan.

So if I'm going into the veterinary field, it will probably be as a veterinarian technician. Then I have to option of working in vet clinics, reserach facilities, zoos, etc. It's local too!

Other careers that interest me, but haven't really looked into them are pharmacist or elderly care nurse.

I want to move to one of the major cities and start my own business with photography. But only photographing people and pets, or just pets. :D I think it would be really fun, plus working with animals would be the greatest.

like Silvie I wanna be a vet but I suck at science physics, chem, Bio the lot and i'm severly severly allergic to cats and horses and in NZ theres only one vet school and that programme is based on farms mostly so im sorta pooped!

But A chef would be great I love to cook.

An Architect or something simillar.

Or to run my own bakery/cafe place.

Since I am already a *grown up* I asked my 9 year old son this question..

His answer to *What do you want to be when you grow up?*

*A Man*

Well - The first thing I ever wanted to be was a vet but I would cry everytime an animal died in my hands even if I had done everything to help it - I just woudn't be able to handle it.
Then I wanted to be a ballerina - But there was a girl I eally hated in my ballet class so that went down the drain as well!
Then it was a teacher becuase I always played schools when I was little and still play it with my sister now sometimes,
But all the way through I have wanted to do something with animals, I would really love to breed rabbits - I know all the risks and everything that could go wrong but rabbits are something I really am passinate about and can;t imagine my life without them!!

Well i am grown up and i still dont know what i want to be when i grow up,lol. I have been currently thinking of going to nursing school part time since the kids are little so that when they are in school i can actually start working, but i am too scared to go to school because i have been out for ssssssssssooooooooooooooo long.

Technically, I'm way, way grown up, but I just started back to finish my bachelor's degree, and then I want to be a physician's assistant, since I'm way too old to go to med. school now. (I'm 45).

"but i am too scared to go to school because i have been out for ssssssssssooooooooooooooo long.".....my advice....go for it....I was out for over 20 years....

I'd really like to be an Equine Veterinarian - treating horses, etc. and also specialize in rabbits as well.

I'd also like to be a jockey or exercise rider. I know the risks of this both for me and the horse, but I love to ride fast and I am short enough to be a jockey. I think I'd stick with exercise rider though, they make a good amount of pay, but don't have as many risks as actual jockeys, i guess.

And I'd love to be a dancer. Ilove to dance, etc.

I'll still probably always have/breedrabbits, but in the future I'd also like tohave horses.

ETA: Another thing that i would love to be is a Forensic Anthropologist - no joke! :) I think it's really awesome.

Oh, and I'd also like to be a lawyer who studies murder investigations...yup...

I've always wanted to be an art teacher and actually applied at some art schools until my teeanage brain decided dropping out of school 4 monthes befor graduation was a great idea . I do plan on going to college to become a nurse when my kids are all in school .

I too hope to become a veterinarian.
Next year I'm going to Cornell to study animal science and we'll see where I am 4 years from now.

I have several things I want to do.

1. Become a Pediatrician (this is my plan)

2. Become an FBI (going to do this after i have been a pedia. for a while.

3. Professional Photographer, not good at taking pics that well but love it.

4. Neonatalogist (Neonatal Intesive Care Nurse)

5. Paramedic

Since many of these things involves the medical career, i am sure i will be able to do all.

But really doesn't everyone want to be. . . . . everything?

Great idea for a topic..

What I want to be when I grow up is what I am - a 42 yr old that is constantly compared to a 12 year old! I hope I never have to grow "old"... and will remain silly and happy w/all the toys that I can buy. :D

:yeahthat: At 42, I still don't know what I want to be yet but I'm having fun. I used to want to be a librarian but decided I really didn't want to work evenings or weekends even if it was with books. I love to draw, paint, sketch, collage, and write butI don't see that as a career, more of a lifetime hobby that I love.By this time in my life I've figured out a bunch of things I DON'T want to be when I grow up but I guess I'm still narrowing it down. I will probably stay at my current job for a while yet as I do like it most of the time and I work with a wonderful group of people (which is sometimes just as important as having your dream job).

I SO agree with you Kirst3buns.. I work with the best bunch of people (small office - 15 of us), and we always say we will never leave as our quality of life at work is fantastic -we have fun, we get along well (most of the time) and we care about each other..

You put into words what I was thinking (but did love the librarian idea too)...
