here is the story with my 15 year old bunny for you to know if you have been keeping some track of whats been going on.
From the pictures that i sent to someone and to the post they made:
his abcess on his leg area is actually connected and resulted from his now cancerous liver and to remove this growth, it wouldnt help him or hurt him but it would be $200 to get it removed using lazers which is not something we are going to do, due to his age and lifespan. his smaller cyst on his chest is nothing really to worry about, its just there. his eyes, its confirmed he has cataracts and may have a smal stage of glucoma known from the red ring around the whites of his eyes. his diarrhea is due to giving him probably tooooooo much fruit which contains natural fructose (sugar) that turns into glucose (more sugar) that causes him to have diarrhea on and off.
(also: i may try to hep with his liver problems by buying from rabbit medicine chest)
any questions, post or pm me
PS:
:?HALEY: they can't drain it unfortunatley because it isn't that type :?
Aww poor Domino, but i'm so glad he got to be seen by a vet, what did the vetsay about it? did the vetgive you any advice?, even though you don't want to proceed with anything which i cannot blame you, because to lose a bunny after 15years would be devestating enough!, i think it would be a hard decision for any animal lover to make.
It makes me feel sorry that Domino is blind,so is my baby girl Lulu
Domino is such a cute little guy,and i will be keeping him in my thoughts
The vet said at this point there is nothing much to do due to his age but to keep him comfy, happy, and make sure he eats and drink normally. i am going to try rabbit medicine chest herbs
do you guys think i should bring him back to the vet? dominos gowth thingy is getting like lumps starting to grow off and it is really gross, does any one know about this stuff????:dunno::shock2:
I know one of the main reasons you decided against any type of surgical procedure was because of his age. Are yousure he's 15? Have you guys had him for his entire life or was he adopted? Because Ive seen cases where someone adopts a bunny who they are told is 5 or 6 when really he's only 1 or so..
Just a thought, that maybe if he's really younger than you think there might be something they can do?
Did the vet think it was causing him pain at all? I really cant think of any other options if it isnt something that can be drained and surgery isnt really an option.
Probably the only thing you can do is try to keep him comfortable. Does he have a soft area of his cage where he can lay down?
hes got a lot of hay to rest on and the vet said she could lazer it off and i think that is what i might do since its getting kind of big the only problem is its like $300 dollars its not contagious by any sort though
You might want to lay down something soft, like a towel or old blanket for him if his cage is wired on the bottom. That way if it is a bit painful, at least he has something cozy to lay on.
Did she think she would be able to get it all with lasers? Its a difficult decision for you, seeing as he is so old. Keep us posted.
if i put something soft in threr he pushes it to the side and yes it is a painful decision mainly by putting him under anestiesia if i spelled it right not so much as the surgery itself
