My little girl has never had the greatest litter box habits, but its gotten much worse. She's been checked and re-checked by a rabbit vet. Her kidneys are fine. No bladder infection. The only think that showed up was she was positive fore.cuniculi. Shetook Oxybendrole for 30 or 60 days(I can't remember). I thought it was helping so the vet told me to keep giving it to her, however now I think it was just wishful thinking. She's become even worse :( Could it be related to thee.cuniculi? She also has arthritis in her knee and takes Metacam but has absolutely no problems jumping or getting into her litter box.

The other thing I've noticed is it seems like the urine is very diluted. Its very clear and it doesn't really smell at all. Sometimes I have to double check if she peed of spilled some water. What could that be? It also seems like she goes quite a lot. She's in the litter box a lot eating her hay so I imagine she goes in there, but even when there is only a little bit of space free space in her cage she'll go there too.

I've tried every environmental thing for at least a year...adding boxes, moving boxes, confining her to a small area, etc., etc.,etc. She'll just pretty much go anywhere and everywhere. Also, she's not incontinent where she doesn't know she's going. She hikes up her little tail and goes.

I've never read any posts about a rabbit never being successful with using a litter box or at least improving. What am I doing wrong?! What other health problem could it be?! Sorry this is so long. I'm kind of at my last straw...Should I accept defeat and accept the fact that she just will always pee on the floor and in her cage? I feel so bad because her floor is always soggy and she and her buddy just sit in it.

P.S.- I love her to pieces and I don't get angry with her about this atall. I just want to fix whatevermight bewrong.

My baby girl Mocha is awful about using a litter box. Sometimes she uses it just because she has to sitin it to eat hay out of the hay rack, but she also poops and pees allover the floor. There is nothing wrong with her, it's just the way she's always been.

I recommend using a solid floor like the less slippery types of vinyl or linoleum. It's much easier to clean up.Just wipe it up with a paper towel, spray with vinegar, and wipe again.

Also, I'm assuming you've tried low-entry litter boxes? If you haven't, you can just cut down the side of a normal litter box. She may jump in and out of them to play but maybe it's not comfortable enough for her to do all the time, especially whenshe has to pee.

So you don't put down puppy pads or towels on top of the linoleum? Its WAY easier to just wipe up the linoleum, but my thought was that since it doesn't absorb the urine, they would stepin it and splash it around. I was thinking with a towel or puppy pad it would at least soak it up. But...I suppose, what's the difference? They're going to get it on them either way.

Do you think it would be a bad idea to separate the two for a day or two? I was thinking that way I could confirm that it was only her peeing on the floor (although I'm 99% sure its only her). Also, I was wondering if he is stressing her out in some way. He gets kind of wild when I come in the room or put out their food and he chases her around.

I don't have a problem with them stepping in urine. Mocha's boy bun Loki has white feet that are immaculate. I guess they're just good at avoiding it, plus their pen is huge. But Mocha only pees in tiny amounts at a time, so she's not making big puddles. She has the exact opposite problem as your girl- I'm a bit concerned that she might not be fully emptying her bladder which could lead to problems with bladder sludge. Hopefully her timothy pellets and veggies will keep that away.

Does she eat fabric? I'm guessing not if you usually use towels, etc. What you can do is get vet bed/synthetic sheepskin bedding or that polar fleece fabric and use that for the top layer, then put something absorbent like puppy pads or thick newspapers underneath. Those fabrics let liquid go straight through into the absorbent stuff underneath, leaving a much more dry upper layer.

The polar fleece stuff is very popular for guinea pig cages. If you want some advice from people who use it regularly, check out the info and forum on this site:

Keep extras of the upper layer, so you can have replacements while the fabric is in the washer.
