What could be causing this behavior

I'm baffled. My 8-9 month old flemish giant is free roaming and well behaved for the most part. She is becoming more and more affectionate and sleeps on my bed most of the night.

Anytime I leave the house I close her up in my bedroom which suits her fine ... this is where she prefers to sleep during the day anyway. I was gone most of the day and I came home to a mess. She had taken her bowl of pellets and thrown them everywhere ... even her bowl was tossed across the room. She acted afraid and scared for a bit and then quickly settled down and was very loving. I began to think she had just had a temper tantrum.

Now we're getting ready for bed and she was biting at her bowl again so I gave her a few pellets and she has tossed it all over again.
She's never done this before.

Any thoughts on why the new behavior? Is she mad or just being spoiled???

Maybe it’s their Hormones? Is your bunny spayed?

Yes she was spayed at 6 months. I got to thinking ... maybe she isn't mad at all and is just playing??? Not sure how to tell.

Maybe she loves you and just was mad at you you were gone for too long and she thought you left her for ever? My Bernie sometimes does same thing she wants to be petted before starting eating her pellets like she says you can't just give me food we need to talk!
I don't know what is your bun trying to tell you but I understand what my Bernie says

I'm definetly going to have to give this some thought. Her bowl is very close to my bed and she sleeps in my bed. She got up twice last night and picked it up and threw it with her teeth, scattering pellets. I want to break this before it becomes a habit. Ugh! I'm putting some new things in her toy box today while I'm gone. Hope that will help if it's boredom.

From what I know with my own rabbits, they'd trow their bowls when they want some attention or if they don't like what is in the bowl, like there were too much crushed pellets once we were waiting for new bags to arrive, they didn't like crushed pellets at all.

She is probably just entertaining herself by playing with the bowl when you are away. If you are nearby, she could be doing it to get your attention. Either way, I'd suggest switching to a bowl that cannot be tossed -- either one that clamps onto an ex-pen wall (if you use one) or a substantial, heavy ceramic one, or one in a stand.

Might also want to consider getting some toss toys like cat balls.

My rabbit will purposely drop poop into his everyday area when i´ve been with him less than an hour straight-he really wants me to stay longer, it seems. He will, when given the chance, always empty his bowls and then toss them around. I have yet to find cheap but sturdy ceramic bowls.

I would not put it past a Flemish to throw a tantrum. Mine tosses her bowl sometimes but it’s rare. Occasionally though she will toss the heck out of it! Who knows what’s in the minds of our fuzzy friends?
I agree with above, get her a heavy ceramic dish but also some toss toys like baby keys and cat balls let us know how she likes them

where in general can you find those? Are they in most home and furnish shops or something? do you know any market chains out of usa that have those?
I´m looking for one of those, but ordering(shipping from) online is expensive, we don´t have dollar stores, ikea or target here, the closest relatives to those are magaziin and pepco
we haven´t seen them in our üet stores either

These types of bowls can be found at any petsmart or petco. Often they are in the bird section. They come in different sizes. I get the 20 oz. size.

@Catlyn ...maybe you can find them (or similar) in the bird section?
