This is fluffbun when I got him the lady said he was a purebreed satin rex. I've been told by others that hes a dwarf aswell hes currently weighing 1.5kg so around 3lbs i think but hes underweight as hes recently beenill he used to weigh round 2-2.2kgs so doesanyone know what hebreedhis is?
Well, there's no such thing as a "satin rex." There are Satins, and Rexes, but they are both fur types/textures and are very different from each other.
Rex fur is even like...... it stands up and the tips all are up. When you know what it is, it's very easy to tell if it is or isn't - definitely not rex fur.
This is a good picture of rex fur. It's SO soft. I have a palomino and a cottontail and a mini-rex.
When pamnock gets on sometime, she'll be able to give you a better idea of the mix probably, she's like a walking encycolpedia with details of each breed.
I've seen a lot of Satin Rex crosses in the US (whichbecame more common with the introduction of the Mini Satin here in the US where Mini Rex are being used to introduce a wider range of colors to the Mini Satin). Coat structure can vary widely due to the presence of the 2 different coat modifying genes.
There are also Opossum Rex, a cross of the Angora x Rex, which have a longer coat.
Yea I really am not to sure know quite confusing lol. Yes he is a real sweetie hes addicted to kissing lol you'll pick him up and he wont stop kissing you tehehe hes my little baby.
Definitly not part lionhead as there are no lionhead rabbits in New Zealand (such a pitty that). I would guess its probably a rex crossed with a satin, the firt cross would most likely not produce a rabbit with a rex coat. I once had what I believed to be a mini rex/ND cross, his coat had an almost rex look but you could clearly see it wasn't. He was a graet bun.
Oh, you're kidding! Who's the brilliant one who decided to cross an Angora w/a Rex? ROFLMAO! C'mon! Plush, velvety fur combined with WOOOOOOOL is NOT going to give you plush wool. It just doesn't work like that. I can see some people getting creative and I do understand that that's how new breeds are made is by mixing breeds to begin with, I understand that, but why would anyone do THAT combo? Just doesn't make sense to me.
