my bunny bailey doesnt seem to be ill , although he has quite a wet bottom and his pee smells quite strong , its not soaked but damper than normal and his back paws are also dirty , have bathed the area but thinking of taking him to vets any ideas what this could be

I am glad you are going to take him to the vets, I had a bun with a wet bottom and thought she was sitting in her urine, but it turned out to be a symptom of something else (she died so we never found out).

It could be a UTI or something similar, could be something else kidney related (possibly EC, maybe).

I'm sure I'm missing something in this, but I'm sure someone else will come along and say whatever I have missed.

I agree with Flashy. Most likely it's a UTI....could be bladder sludge/stone. But it could be a "marker" for EC. The first signs of EC are usually some type of neurological deficiency involving the rear legs (most of the time the left side). Might be a very rare stumble or a missed step when the leg appears to be extended. This is usually accompanied by a urinary tract issue and the urine will have a concentrated odor (caused by shedding spores of the protozoal infection....this lead to lesions and scarring in the kidneys). I think a visit to a highly skilled rabbit savvy vet would be in order.

what is ec and what treatment is there for a uti , he doesnt seem to have any problems with his legs , is eating and drinking as normal , moving , hopping etc , his ears are warm , eyes not watery , no discharge from nose , his droopings are round and hard hes had the occasional soft poo which i think is due to a change in his food , am slightly concerned that he might be losing fur where its wet but he wont let me look properly so not sure whether its the wet fur making it look that way

For a UTI (urinary tract infection, incase you didn't know) they would use Antibiotics to clear up the infection.

EC (or e.cuniculi) is a parasite that shows itself in different ways, and will debilitate the rabbit until the kidneys fail. As of yet, there are some treatments that vets use, but nothing excellent or overly effective.

You might also want to look at the Urinary Problems link.

i have just tried to look at his bottom properly and i could be panicking and over reacting but at either side of his tail it looks bald , red an sore and maybe that there is a blister or something like that there or a swelling there also could be a discharge above his tail cant really explain it though am quite worried

That could easily be a urine scald. You can use sudacrem on that and it will heal fine (if that's what it is).

ETA, when you go to your vet, mention the whole lot. Your vet should check his rear end so should see.
