Hi, this might sounds to you like i am a lazybunny mom, but...... do you guys all wash the vegetable inside andoutside? i mean, something like lettuce or cabbage, i wash the outlayers, but not the inside layers as i thought they are protected fromthe outside. this might sound stupid, but do i need to washevery layer?

i guess if pestcide was used to grow those veggies, then i need to wash inside and outside, huh???

thanks!

Yup, give them a really good wash!

Bunnies are so much smaller than we are so their little systems are so much more sensitive to chemicals.

We've started giving our babies filtered water as well!

Yeah, I wash everything inside and out.....just in case.

Oh, and since you were asking before about types lettuce and such, heres a great list of recommended veggies. I printed this out and haveit taped to my fridge for reference.

I have to admit, I used to be pretty lazy whenit came to washing veggies. But given the recent E Coli scare, I'vebeen washing them thouroughly. I've found that its a bit easier if youput all the veggies in a strainer and just drain water through, tossingthe veggies around a bit.

I feed only organic veggies, but wash them anyway.
The thing about organic is that what you think is organic really isn't.There is no guidelines that specify exactly what organicmeans,in some areas it may mean no spraying with pesticides14 days before harvest, in another it may just ban certain ones butallow others, etc. That's the reasonI don't feed organic, itcosts twice as much and there has been too many incidents where organicreally isn't organic. Anyways, each to their own, that's just myopinion.

But I wash everything I feed, even the things I grow. I've noticed thatthings like store bought Romaine and Cilantrohave this soaplike substance on it that forms bubbles in the water. I also wash thembecause of all the bugs. I make sure anythingI grow has nobugs or eggs on them. Also, if there is something bad in the bunch(often times bunches or parsley and cilantro, etc. will have a fewrotten or rotting pieces) I wash it to make sure no rotten pieces areon what I feed them and it prevents the rest from going bad so fast.
