Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the right forum, so free to move it
I just wondered whether anyone else here has had their rabbit die due to something that happened at the vets.
My bun had fleas, so we took her to the vets to buy and get the good stuff. The vet gave us some Xenex.
Moon (the bun) had only been to the vets about 6 weeks previous for her mixy jabs and a weigh, so we used that weight as she had not lost nor gained, and gave her the appropriate amount of medicine for that weight.
That night Moon got exhausted from what the fleas were doing, and she died the next morning.
Last week we took some of our other bunnies to the vets for mixy jabs and a weigh in and their weights were wildly different from Moon's weight, even though they were not that different in size.
The bunnies that we took the same day as Moon also probably weigh less than the scales said (things like one was recovering from a tooth problem where he lost a lot of weight, yet he weighed as much as he did the previous year before he lost the weight, one of our bucks that was weighed is roughly the same size as one weighed last week, and came out0.5kg higher).
All this points to Moon dying because we accidently overdosed her because the vets weight was higher thanit should have been.
I feel so guilty and so truly alone and I just wondered whether anyone else had had anything like this happen, vets errors, or anything like that.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, I just wish I had my own scales(on a side note, any ideas where I might be able to get a decent set of scales that would weigh netherland dwarfs and dwarf lops?), but I won't ever allow this to happen again, I know that for sure.
I don't know if this is coherent,I got to the bit about Moon dying and started to cry, so it could make no sense at all. But I hope it does, or else I'm going to have to try and explain again.
Thanks for reading
Tracy
