Actually thats weird you should say about that with the mutts costing less then pure-bred, LadyOnslaught. My previous vet charged more to see/drug etc a purebred dog then a mutt :X

Why?! That makes absolutely no sense. Anything to make money huh?

Not really a lot of mutt breeds or Heinz 57 as me and my hubby call them actually seem to get less problems than pedigree dogs because there is no inbreeding its also why you pay more for insurance on pedigree's as well!!

It seems like everyone who commented all has the same opinion:biggrin2:

I too don't think there is anything wrong with breeding if the owner/breeder is responsible, uses good breeding stock ect. I think good breederstake partin the solution of the overpopulation issues.

The other day a woman brought in her new golden retriver pup for its puppy boosters. We got to talking about breeding and she said she planned on breeding her. I was just about to through in my usual objection but then she proceeded to tell me that the breeder she bought fromspayed and neutetred those puppies whom she didn't believe to be "good breeding stock" before she sold them. I know that its recommened that pups should be about 6 months old to be spayed/neutered due to developmental issues, but I thought it was a step in the more responsible direction when it comes to breeders.:great:

Alot of times people buy dogs from a breeder as a pet, but then decide to breed the dog just because the dog is papered. This is WRONG, because alot of dogs who are "papered" aren't good representations of the breed. You need to have more behind your decision than that peice of paper staing your dog is pure bred.:nonono:

I don't see anything wrong with breeding purebred anything as long as it is done RESPOPNSABLY and for the love of the breed, not just a quick buck.

I also strongly agree that you should never buy from pet shops. They are out there to make a profit only, and most of the time the staff are not knowledgeable at all about the sex ect (especially with buns). I'll admit that Merlin came from a pet shop, but he was suprise from my boyfriend who didn't know any better. -He knows better now, thats for sure!!:foreheadsmack:
