Thats great peg hopefully they are just small babies i notice that sometimes if i have a couple of litters at the same time. looking forward to seeing them grow :D

Moochi fed all 8 babies earlier today (they're all alive) and now I've moved Saphira's four back with her for the night (she seems ok with it). I was just really worried about hers because they were so small and she wasn't exactly being the best mom.

I took video too that I'll share later - once I'm awake enough to remember my name.....

Peg,

I was wondering if the small litter had anything to do with the doe being bred more than once? I remember people saying that if you let the buck errr do his business more than once this could reduce the size of the babies and make for an easier delivery? I am just asking out of curiosity because I was wondering if it really worked. I never bred so I wouldn't know :p

Themainthing that is usually affected by the number of times a buck "does his thing" is the number of babies. 2-3 breedings (in a short time period) usuallyresults in the doe having alarger litter than she would with one breeding.Having more babies develop in the horns (uterus) may result in slightly smaller babies (which could affect delivery). But then she has more babies to kindle, care for and raise.

Well - after an XRay we now know Saphira is fine - she has a lot of gas bubbles - some small - some large. We also saw some food (not a lot) in her system....

So to see updates of the Valentine's babies here on out - you can follow the "Watch the Lionhead babies grow" thread in the blog area!

I thought y'all might like to see pictures of the Valentine's Day litters. As you may remember - Mochi is fostering Saphira's litter - so she has a total of 8 babies.

From February 20th - almost a week old:

and now from yesterday - 3 weeks old

I'm uploading a video right now and I'll add that in a bit too...

They are SO darned cute! I like them at this age! Tiny bunnies but able to get around on their own.

They're driving poor Mochi up the wall.....I come to get them for their playtime and she's like "Keep them - please? Can I get a nice long break today??".

I need to videotape them playing - they're just so darned cute.

Poor Mochi! I can imagine - "mama, can we do this? mama, brother just poo'd on me!"....... Crawling all over her too I bet!

Cow (the blue one) has been renamed Val....and appears to be a girl (I think).

Mr/Mrs Planters (the tort) is being called Peanut for now and appears to be a girl also.

Bandita (broken without the mark on the nose) might be a girl I hope - I can't tell for sure....

It's more like,

"Mama...I'm thirsty. Can I get a little drink?"

and

"Mama....I played so much I'm hungry. Can I get a little drink?"

and

"Mama. Drink please?"

HAHA! I bet!

That little broken girl is ADORABLE!

and Peanut - so cute! did you see it do a half binky in the video?! It was hilarious! You were concentrating on those two brokens and on the left of the screen I see this little flick!

and then the girl flicking you off LMAO!

I'm crossposting the pictures to my lionhead baby blog too....

I love the closeup of Valerie....she's one of my favorites in these two litters....

I wish I'd gone in closer on Splash for this one - she's the broken girl in the front

The sun wasn't cooperating with me (wrong time of day to take photos on my front porch)......I wanted another good closeup of Val.

For some reason - I love Bandita's look in this one - she's the broken girl in the front...

I think Bandita has the most feminine face....you can't see it good here - but I just love it. I like the way I caught her in this picture - not sure why though.

They are so adorable Peg! :inlove:And I love when girls have that feminine face that allow you to just look at them and know they are girls :biggrin2:
