I will do photos later this week - Moochi just got done having her babies about 15 minutes ago.

Both mamas are first time mamas - Saphira's babies are smaller than I'd like - but doing ok - and Moochi's babies are nice and healthy looking.

I feel like a proud grandma!!!

I say they all get named after chocolate in honour of V-day :biggrin2:Hershey, Cadbury, Aero, Crunchie... Hmm well maybe not Crunchie... :p

Yeah Truffle is so cute!

What ya say Peg? So... What colors do ya think they are? Hihi I am trying to understand how you guys figure these things out so young :biggrin2:

That is a cute idea....I will have to think about it.

Honestly, I'm not sure that Saphira's litter will make it - they're just so small. Two are almost normal size...and two are really tiny (but I don't think they look like peanuts - they just look like runts - I googled peanuts to see pictures again and read about them and refresh my memory on what they look like).

I'm toying with putting her litter down w/ Moochi's overnight so that they have a better chance of being fed.

I don't know - I can't put my finger on it - but there is something about Saphira that just feels a bit "off" to me. Her vent looks fine...I palpate and can't feel anything and she's eating and drinking some (but not as much as I would expect her to eat or drink). She keeps staring at me when I sit on the couch and watch tv and I can't help but feel....I don't know. I feel like she wants to tell me something - but I'm somehow not picking up on it. It looks as though her milk came in....

I'm about to go look at Moochi's babies some more - they are really good sized.

I'll try to update y'all on the litters as they get older..

How do we figure out colors? (Sometimes we guess).

Saphira is a blue and she was bred to Sting who is a seal/dark sable. In her pedigree she also had a sable point and I was hoping that possibly I could get one (based on his pedigree too). I don't remember if I knew if Sting carried dilute...

Moochi is a black that carries chocolate and she also has sable point in her pedigree. She was bred to Triad - a broken tort that carries dilute (which is what gives blues). I can tell already that two babies in this litter will be brokens...

Here is a video showing the two litters...

Awwww! Too cute Peg! Congrats!

I LOVE the idea of naming them after chocolates or Valentines Day! We had a litter born 2 years ago on Feb. 14th and they were Cupid, Hugs, Kisses, Valentino (a real stud muffin!) and Love... Made it easy to remember when they were born!

I hope Saphira is OK....

I haven't checked Moochi's babies yet - but Saphira's babies look like they got fed and they all made it through the night. I was so discouraged last night but I'm encouraged by the fact they made it through the night and got fed.

Keeping my fingers crossed for them. How's Saphira this morning?
She's had a LOT of water to drink but she didn't touch her food (that I can tell). I threw it out and gave her fresh food. She ate some oatmeal from my hand and I just put a slice of apple and a slice of peach in there for her....not huge slices or anything...but enough to tempt her appetite. She did eat hay several times last night....

I'm pulling her out in a couple of minutes to check her over better and I may give her some playtime on the floor to help her relax a bit. I'm also going to add some pedialyte to her water bottle so she's getting the electrolytes....

They're so cute, peg! I sure hope they all make it.

I'm not sure what the breed photo things are going to be doing, but I would love to see some thread about birth to adult in the breeds.... like any breeder who could do this would be awesome!

I had kittens once that we named all Elvis names..... Jelly Donut was so cute! LOL!

Happy B-day new Valentine's babies!!! We tried to breed our does so they would be due on V-day but I guess we did it a few days to soon. They are really cute. I will add them into my prayers that they stay strong and healthy!!
