Hi there!
I am in a difficult situation. Here is some background: I have two bunnies, one is a 2.7 lb black and white male (neutered) dwarf (i am pretty sure he has some lionhead in him too). His name is Bug, and he is still very young, under a year I believe. My other rabbit, Bunrai, is a huge 7.1 lb black and white female (spayed), Iâm not sure what breed she is or how old she is, but I think she is around 5 or 6 years. I rescued the female from a family who didnât want her and were going to release her into the wild. the male I got from a friend who had no clue how to take care of a rabbit or what sort of commitment it is. She wasnât feeding him any hay at all, only pellets, and she never let him out of his cage.
So anyway, I found myself with two adorable rabbits. Now, the problem is, I am in college and I am about to move into a house where I will have 5 other roomates who wont allow pets. I donât feel comfortable giving them to a shelter to find a new home, because so many people just take horrible care of their rabbits simply because they donât know how to properly care for them. I want them to be able to live somewhere that they have lots of room to exercise and where they will be taken care of properly. I would like to surrender them to the sanctuary, or to someone who knows a lot about bunnies and spoils their own buns. Bug is very mild tempered and very sweet, he loves other buns! Bunrai is a little bit more aggressive and opinionated, but still very sweet.
I understand that you will probably not be able to take both rabbits, or maybe not even one, but you never know until you try. I would also like to add that their cages are included. If they go to a sanctuary, I would be willing to sponsor them too.
If you cannot take either bun, does anyone know of a group I should try to contact? Also, keep in mind that I do not want them to be put up for adoption somewhere.
Thank you so much for your time,
Melissa
