Well, I got on him and he started acting up right then and then reared and fell down and then I think he rolled to the left to try to get back up and my leg got squished and I bailed. It was very sore and bruised for a week and there are still some deep bruises that hurt sometimes, but I was very fortunate.
I think something about his saddle pad was bothering him because he had never done anything like that before and we were riding in a different pad. I took it off and rode him bareback and he acted perfectly, not even fussing when I stopped him, which he generally did before.

Trailers can be spooky. Most of the times horses try not to hurt humans though. They are amazing animals. I bet Kota was really upset that he hurt you.

Oh he was...... he's so gentle! he had a kitten for a long time and a dog that played with him all the time..... and when we had him to this one gal for a month - her kids ran around under him playing tag!!

Mostly Lexi rides 4h and local open shows. She's going to maybe try poles and barrels with Bug er Dakota (Bug is his nickname from me LOL) His brother was national pole bending champ in high school rodeo a few years ago...... did I tell ya that Kota is FAST!? zoooooooooooom........

Dakota sounds like a really sweet horse. I bet he will be great for Lexi to ride at shows and stuff with his great disposition.

I ride different horses. Apparently I have a "way" with horses so I get stuck on the horses that need training. I love it though. Stick me on a green horse any day, just don't stick me on a lesson horse! (Strange enough 4 out of the 6 times I've been thrown were on lesson horses)
I love pole bending, my first favorite horse was a pole bending champion and he was fun!
I was training a QH barrel and pole racer for a while, she hated everyone else but was my baby and I could do anything with her. She was the barrel racer that gives them bad raps some time. She was really fast and no one else could ride her at anything other than top speed through barrels, but she would go through at any speed for me. But then I trained her too well and someone bought her. :/ Someday I'm going to buy her back.

Our guy who's riding him is supposed to be really good tho...... they say he works magic.
