Hey, I have/had 4 rabbits.. daisy was my female netherland dwarf, she had 3 babies *peppa, binky & blippi, with our rabbit that sadly passed (accidental litter)* so my 2 boys binky & blippi were castrated with no problems, I took my 2 females too get done today & daisy sadly passed away just after her spay.. peppas went well.. they are all bonded and live happily together but peppa & daisy were not just mother & baby they were soulmates - where ever one went the other followed. I've just brought peppa home, I've got a metal playpen separating them at the minute *too see if she is eating, drinking & pooping* she is just laying there, not interested in anything.. can she sense that daisy is gone? They both went in at the same time this morning & now her mate is suddenly gone (she obviously has the 2 boys), im just so worried about her. What do I look out for? I have noticed when she moves she barely moves her back legs, it's more of a drag/pull is that just because she is sore? Thank you. I'm heartbroken. Daisy was my little girl.. but she is with her 1st soulmate - lola now (the daddy rabbit that passed, he was thought too be a girl🤦‍♀️), that's the only thing keeping me going. Thank you. X

Am so very sorry to hear that Daisy didnt make it. Had a lot of trouble keeping our female going after her spay. Our other bunny, Dutchess, lost her soul mate Arnold suddenly and it took a while for her to stop grieving. We got Abby (just spayed) because Dutchess was so unhappy and lethargic. I gave her extra attention but what really perked her up was seeing Abby. I am so sorry you lost Daisy and hope Peppas perks up soon. It is really hard to lose a bunny, as i found out when we lost Arnold.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Did the vet give pain meds there and take home pain meds for the next few days? If so, which one, at what dose, and what is your rabbits weight? Have you checked to make sure your rabbits body temp is warm. They'll commonly get a little hypothermic after anesthesia, and a cold rabbit will have a harder time recovering or starting to eat again.

If she's not eating or barely eating by morning, you'll need to contact the vet for recovery food and instructions on syringe feeding. If you weren't given pain meds, you absolutely need to ask for that as well. Meloxicam is what's usually prescribed, and commonly at 1mg/kg, split into two doses every 12 hours, for at least 4-5 days.
