A couple of hours ago we were working on cleaning the office and Tiny found a Hall's Menthol (cherry flavored) cough drop on the floor.....

I noticed him throw it and I didn't think much of it till a bit later Robin & I noticed he was chewing (and chewing) and chewing on something....turns out he'd pulled it out of the wrapper by chewing through the middle of the wrapper.

By the time we were able to open his mouth - I guess he'd swallowed it and his breath smelled like cherry flavor.

I looked at the bag and I think he'll be ok....its been a couple of hours and he hasn't keeled over yet.

Should I be worried?

Peg

I'm sorry, but the thought of him chewing a cough drop is hysterical!

:roflmao:

I honestly don't think it can hurt him. The same menthol ingredients are in Vet Rx and other remedies. (Maybe he had a little tickle in his throat?)

Robin says he was crunching really loud on it - and he seemed to like to have something solid to chew on.

He reminded me of when you ask a kid what they have in their mouth and they go, "Just my tongue and my teeth..."...and you go "uh huh..."

Bad Peg! How dare you not treat his sore throat sooner! He had to resort to treating himself :p

silly Tiny! I think he should be ok. He might be on a sugar buzz though. Is he eating and drinking normally?
Not exactly. But its my fault. We moved the sick boys into the office and they get baby food/pumpkin mixture syringe fed to them (along with solids that they eat).

Tiny smelled the banana baby food....and he came over and started eating from the syringe, trying to eat the syringe, cleaning off the syringe - oh - and sticking his nose in the baby bowl I have for the mixture and almost getting it stuck in there while he tried to lick out the food.

Oh - you meant is he eating his REGULAR food ok?

I think so....I'll keep an eye on him.

In other words - he's being a pain today....I think its cause we're rearranging his room.

LMAO!!! Tiny with his nose stuck in a baby bowl xD I can just imagine.
Almost as funny as seeing him try to suck from a 1 cc syringe to get the food faster than what I was giving it.

What was really funny was I found a wintergreen lifesaver on the floor (the individually wrapped ones) and showed it to him and said, "'I'm shocked you didn't go for this..." and he smelled it and tried to take it from my hand....and I was afraid he was going to bite me.

Geez Tiny the dustbuster lol. he must have thought all his birthdays and christmas's had come at once what with cherry sweets and banana baby food!!!

i do love that big bun of yours Peg:biggrin2:

I'm so laughing! I hate those things eventhough the cherry are what I use if I need something for a cough/sorethroat.

Then this big bunny goes to eat one like it's candy! :foreheadsmack:What a goober!

I'm glad he's doing ok. Wonder if he'll have mentol poos later....... :ponder:he maybe found the cure for Tony's poo smells! :idea

Yeah but I'd been telling him he needed to do something about the SIZE of his poos...not the smell of his poos..

I just got myself a cough drop since I was coughing and guess who was all over me the minute he smelled it as I was opening the wrapper...

Great - now I have to hide my cough drops from Tiny....along with everything else almost....

Peg

I shared this with some folks but not out in the general area....

A few days ago when I was really stressed I used some cranberry bathing stuff a friend had given me.

I forgot how much Tiny loved Craisins....

He attacked me and tried to get to my hand (I had simply tried it out on the first).....and kept trying to eat my hand.....un spite of the fact it was cranberry SOAP.

I love my big guy - he's a hoot. I'm glad that the menthol won't bother him because it did have me worried in spite of his size...

Oh Peg...I SO needed that laugh...oh man...my tummy's hurting from laughing so hard...

I'm happy he's okay, of course...but oh man, the thought of him eating a cough drop, and what various people said (mainly okiron's comment of him having to resort to caring for his sore throat himself) just had me DYING over here with laughter!!

Thanks for posting this. I know you did it as a concerned mommy...but oh man, was it funny! I suspect you don't realize how funny you can be...oh man...

This is me:

Peg, you're so wonderful, for so many reasons...and the best part is the fact that you don't REALIZE how many ways you're wonderful! :D

He's got an eating disorder LOL!

You should have no trouble getting him to drink water - add a bit of ocean spray and he's gonna drink the whole bowl!

What a goober!

LOL! What a happy little bunny you got there now!
He must think he is Kinggetting all those treats:p

You'd better be careful with Tiny...you know what they say about self-medicating!!!lol!!!

Our garbage-can bun, Pumpkin, tries to eat my hand when I put scented handcream on....she just licks and licks, then gets the disapproving bunny thing going on when she can't figure out why there's nothing to sink her teeth into!

On that note...

Last night, I refilled the bunny food bin (well, container, really...bin makes it sound HUGE), and flattened out the top with my hand, so it wasn't so hilly...and I could tell more accurately how much was in there...

Well, apparently that made my finger just TOO irresistable for Flower. She'll chin my finger FURIOUSLY if I poke it into her cage...well, last night, she was trying to EAT IT!

Now, I've had nice smells on my hands before that I thought she would like (raisins, craisins, etc.) and she hasn't tried to eat me, but apparently last night, she just couldn't resist! Thankfully, I've gotten accustomed to their movements enough that I could tell it was possible by the way she was acting, so I knew when to pull away (good indicator was the mouth opening, haha!), given that I'd JUST filled the container, and it's RIGHT by her cage, and she was on hind legs, sniffing the food as it fell, hehe! But, sheesh! Little Stinker! :D

And as I always say, I wouldn't have my bunnies any other way...the stinkier the better! :biggrin2:
